Comparison Of Two Different Intraoral Scanners For Determination Of Caries Related Volume Loss In Caries Removal, Merve Şeker, Elif Alkan, Dilek Tağtekin, Bora Korkut, Funda Yanıkoğlu

Objective: The study aimed to compare cavity volume data obtained with two different intraoral scanners. Methods: One hundred extracted molar teeth were divided into groups according to ICDAS-II classification, and scanned with Cerec Omnicam (Dentsply Sirona) and iTero Element Flex (Align Technology). The caries-infected tissues were removed regarding either minimally invasive or conventional cavity principles. Samples were scanned again and volumetric data were assessed by Meshmixer 3.5 (Autodesk) 3D modeling software. Objectives: This study aimed to analyze subchondral cyst on the mandibular condyle using fractal dimension (FD) measurement on a panoramic radiograph. Methods: This retrospective study examined 15 patients aged 24 to 75 years who had undergone panoramic radiography and cone-beam computed tomography on both sides of the mandibular condyles, between January 2013 and November 2017, in the Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology Clinic, Dental Hospital, Mahidol University. The limitation of residual bone height (RBH) and vital structures such as sinuses in the maxillary often make the implant placement procedure becomes complicated. Clinicians may perform sinus elevation prior to implant placement to accommodate the length of the implant fixture. Sinus elevation is an invasive procedure and complication may occur during the surgery including the most frequent complication is perforation of Schneiderian membrane.

Nanotechnology is a branch of science focusing on the manipulation of materials measured on the nanoscale (size = 1–100 nm). Recent advances in the field of nanodentistry have resulted in the development of alternative treatment plans for common dental problems, bringing about a paradigm shift in dentistry. Nanorobots, also known as “nanites” or “nanomachines,” are theoretical microscopic devices that may be used for the diagnosis and treatment of oral health problems. This paper aims to discuss the latest innovations in the field of nanodentistry.
