Treatment Of Class Iii Malocclusion With Anterior Cross-Bite Using Miniscrew Anchorage – Case Report, Jung-Hsuan Cheng, Yu-Chuan Tseng, Chia-Ni Lin, Hong-Po Chang Aug 2022

Treatment Of Class Iii Malocclusion With Anterior Cross-Bite Using Miniscrew Anchorage – Case Report, Jung-Hsuan Cheng, Yu-Chuan Tseng, Chia-Ni Lin, Hong-Po Chang

Taiwanese Journal of Orthodontics

Adult patients with skeletal Class III malocclusion may have several available treatment options: (1) a combination of orthodontic treatment and orthognathic surgery. (2) camouflaged orthodontic treatment with various extraction selections. In this case report, we use miniscrew anchorage to retract mandibular incisors and control labial tipping of maxillary incisors. Not only improving dental occlusion without extraction of teeth (except for wisdom teeth) but also achieving a balanced profile in only 14 months of treatment time.

Morphologic Characteristics Of Adult Patients With Facial Asymmetry Treated By Orthodontic Therapy Or Orthognathic Surgery, Yu-Chuan Tseng, Kai-Chieh Ou, Chin-Yun Pan, Szu-Ting Chou, Hong-Po Chang Aug 2022

Morphologic Characteristics Of Adult Patients With Facial Asymmetry Treated By Orthodontic Therapy Or Orthognathic Surgery, Yu-Chuan Tseng, Kai-Chieh Ou, Chin-Yun Pan, Szu-Ting Chou, Hong-Po Chang

Taiwanese Journal of Orthodontics

Facial asymmetry is a common feature in orthodontic patients. Mild skeletal facial asymmetry can be treated effectively by camouflaged orthodontic technique. Orthodontic treatment combined with orthognathic surgery would be suggested in some extreme cases of facial asymmetry. Although traditional posteroanterior cephalogram was 2D image, it was still full of reference meaning and value for diagnosing the asymmetric component in craniofacial area. The objective of this research was to investigate the differences in morphological characteristics of facial asymmetry patient who can be treated by orthodontic therapy only or combined orthognathic surgery. The pre-treatment postero-anterior cephalograms of two groups of 60 subjects …

Cephalometric Study Of Adult Class Iii Malocclusions Treated With Orthodontic Therapy Or Orthognathic Surgery, Yu-Chuan Tseng, Chen-Yi Liao, Hong-Po Chang Aug 2022

Cephalometric Study Of Adult Class Iii Malocclusions Treated With Orthodontic Therapy Or Orthognathic Surgery, Yu-Chuan Tseng, Chen-Yi Liao, Hong-Po Chang

Taiwanese Journal of Orthodontics

The Class III malocclusion is the most difficult anomalies to understand. The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences in morphological characteristics of Class III malocclusion patient who can properly treated by orthodontic treatment only or combined orthognathic surgery. To find the most important morphological factors those influence the treatment planning and predict probability of orthognathic surgery. The pre-treatment lateral cephalograms of two groups of 80 subjects (40 orthodontic and 40 surgical) with Class III malocclusion were analyzed. Thirty-seven linear, proportional, angular and soft tissue measurements were made. Two sample t test was applied to identify the dentoskeletal …
