Background: Adverse drug reactions (ADRs) are a critical component of patient safety; however, ADR monitoring remains underutilized in dentistry. This study aimed to assess knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding ADR reporting among undergraduate and postgraduate students and practicing dentists.

Methods: A cross-sectional observational study was conducted using a structured, validated 19-item questionnaire covering socio-demographics, knowledge (6 items), attitude (4 items), and practice (5 items), which was distributed both in person and online. A total of 258 complete responses were analyzed out of 300 individuals contacted (response rate: 86%). Introduction: Orthokeratinized odontogenic cyst (OOC) is a rare developmental jaw lesion with indolent behavior and low recurrence potential.

Case presentation: A 33-year-old healthy male was referred after incidental discovery of a mandibular radiolucency. Cone-beam CT revealed a well-defined unilocular lesion in close relation to the inferior alveolar canal. Aspiration confirmed its cystic nature, and a conservative decompression was performed using a rubber drain to reduce lesion size and preserve adjacent structures. Histopathologic examination identified orthokeratinized epithelium consistent with OOC. Purpose

Many infants with cleft lip and/or palate (CL/P) have airway issues that make supine, flat-surface sleep challenging.¹ Prior studies indicate that alternative positioning may reduce obstructive events,² and early sleep-disordered breathing can affect later development.³  Despite this, caregivers of infants with craniofacial differences rarely receive tailored sleep guidance, and no evidence-based, condition-specific recommendations currently exist.^4,5

Methods

This single-site, cross-sectional study evaluated sleep practices, caregiver education, and barriers to adherence among parents of children (< 3 years) with CL/P treated at CHKD’s Craniofacial Program. Eligible caregivers (n=117) were identified via query of the electronic medical record by CHKD Data Governance and invited to complete an anonymous REDCap survey assessing demographics, sleep environment, counseling, and understanding of safe-sleep recommendations.

This two-case report presents the use of the Individual Patient Solutions (IPS) Implants® Preprosthetic system in two patients with distinct clinical needs.

Case #1 involves a 69-year-old male with significant unilateral maxillary bone loss and a residual oroantral communication (OAC) following the failure of both conventional implants and sinus lift procedures. Case #2 involves a patient with a severely atrophic, edentulous mandible. These cases present two distinct and challenging clinical scenarios where both traditional endosseous and zygomatic implants were not feasible. BACKGROUND: Despite its purported analgesic effects, controversy exists regarding dexmedetomidine's efficacy as an opioid-sparing anesthetic adjunct.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is to measure the association between dexmedetomidine (DEX) administration during orthognathic surgery and postoperative opioid consumption.

STUDY DESIGN, SAMPLE, AND SETTING: A single-blind randomized prospective cohort study was implemented. Patients consenting for orthognathic surgery at Thomas Jefferson University from January 2022 to October 2024 were screened.
