The Pharmacokinetic Of Silver Diamine Fluoride In Healthy Children With Dental Caries, Lim Siau Peng Jan 2021

The Pharmacokinetic Of Silver Diamine Fluoride In Healthy Children With Dental Caries, Lim Siau Peng

Student Works (2020-2029)

Silver diamine fluoride (SDF) is a medication used topically on carious tooth surfaces to arrest caries progression in both child and adult populations. This study aimed to determine the pharmacokinetic of SDF in 15 children who received SDF treatment. Urine samples were collected at baseline, and at first and second 24 hours after SDF treatment to determine silver and fluoride levels. Hair samples were collected at baseline, and at days 7, 14, 30, 60, 75, and 90 after SDF to assess silver levels. The median and interquartile range of urinary fluoride at baseline, first and second 24 hours after SDF …

Mageb2 Antibody As Potential Diagnostic And Predictive Tool In The Progression Of Oral Cancer, Awang Hasyim Noratikah Jan 2020

Mageb2 Antibody As Potential Diagnostic And Predictive Tool In The Progression Of Oral Cancer, Awang Hasyim Noratikah

Student Works (2020-2029)

Introduction: Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) represents more than 90% of all oral cancer. Despite advances in diagnostic and therapeutic modalities, mortality and morbidity rates have not improved in the last decade. Hence, alternative diagnostic and therapeutic approaches are urgently needed. Cancer testes antigens (CTA) are proteins that are expressed in various malignant tumours but its expression in normal tissue is restricted to testes and occasionally placental trophoblast. Due to its exclusive presence in different types of malignant tumors, and their ability to trigger immune responses, CTA are considered promising biomarkers for cancer vaccines. A previous protein array study reported …

A Three Dimensional Age Estimation Using Cone Beam Ct In Malaysian Population, Asif Muhammad Khan Jan 2020

A Three Dimensional Age Estimation Using Cone Beam Ct In Malaysian Population, Asif Muhammad Khan

Student Works (2020-2029)

Forensic odontology plays a vital role in the age estimation and identification process during criminal investigations. Forensic science in the past have mainly employed two-dimensional (2D) radiographic assessment of developmental and physiological age related dental parameters for age estimation. However, 2D radiograph doesn’t represent the three-dimensional (3D) anatomical structures. Rapidly evolving CBCT imaging modality can be effectively employed in forensic sciences to overcome the limitations of 2D imaging. The current study aimed to develop a novel method of dental age estimation using 3D surface area analyses of root apices of the developing permanent maxillary canines and mandibular third molars among …

Three Dimensional Biometric Guide In Determining Maxillary Tooth Position And Arch Form, Tawfiq Omar Farouq Jan 2020

Three Dimensional Biometric Guide In Determining Maxillary Tooth Position And Arch Form, Tawfiq Omar Farouq

Student Works (2020-2029)

In complete denture fabrication, when pre-extraction records are lacking, determining the denture teeth positions to where the natural predecessors occupied is essential yet challenging. Although several biometric guides were suggested to position teeth for dentures, none is providing three-dimensional (3D) positions of teeth that can be used in the recently developed computer designed digital dentures. The aim of this study was to develop new biometric guides to determine the original 3D positions of the maxillary teeth and dental arch form individualised for each given dentate or edentulous maxillary cast based on selected intraoral landmarks. The objectives were to investigate the …

Dental Therapists' Professional Role And Possible Futures Within The Malaysian Dental Workforce, Zakaria Noor Azhani Jan 2020

Dental Therapists' Professional Role And Possible Futures Within The Malaysian Dental Workforce, Zakaria Noor Azhani

Student Works (2020-2029)

Introduction: The Malaysian Dental Act 2018 has recently superseded the Dental Act 1971. Under this Act, dental therapists are required to register under the Therapist Division, are allowed to work at the private practice, and treat a person up to the age of 18 years old under direct supervision of dentist. It is important to assess the perceptions among essential stakeholders with regards these changes and how it affects the future dental therapists’ workforce. Objectives: To explore the dental therapist future workforce dynamics across sectors (public-private) in Malaysia. Materials and methods: In Phase 1, three parallel quantitative surveys were conducted …
