Future Dental Journal
Objectives: To evaluate and compare smear layer removal in root canals instrumented with two single Ni-Ti rotary instruments with two different irrigating systems. Materials and Methods: Sixty recently extracted single-rooted mandibular premolars teeth were decoronated to a standardized length of 14 mm. Roots were divided into two main groups (n=30) according to the rotary NiTi file used for instrumentation either with One Shape (OS) file or with One Curve file (OC). Each main group was subdivided into three subgroups according to the methods used to agitate the irrigating solutions either sonically or ultrasonically as following: Group A was subdivided into …

Increasing Oral Health In A Midwest Elementary School: Quality Improvement Project, Dee Young
Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects
Marginalized communities experience barriers to accessing oral healthcare in the United States (US). Due to this, many children are left to use the emergency department (ED) for dental care. The purpose of this Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) project was to improve oral health services access in children at one suburban Midwest elementary school. The objectives of this project were: a) to improve the efficiency of students registering in Fall 2023 to access available oral health exam services, b) to increase the number of students who receive an oral health exam compared to the number in the previous school year. …

Trueness Of Milled Zirconia Versus Milled Hybrid Ceramic Crowns Designed For Primary Teeth Restoration Compared To The Digitally Designed File: An In Vitro Study, Joy Elian Hayek, Hani Tohme, Lara Nasr, Ghida Lawand, Roula El Hachem, Nada Farhat Mchayleh
International Arab Journal of Dentistry
Introduction: Stainless Steel Crowns (SSC) are not easily replaced by Zirconia Prefabricated Crowns (ZPC) because of their adaptation problem and risk of fracture and loosening.
Objectives: To assess and compare the trueness of milled zirconia and milled hybrid ceramic crowns designed for primary teeth restoration to a digitally designed file.
Methods: The fourteen extracted primary molars were scanned using an intraoral scanner to obtain digital files of the teeth. The digital files were imported into the Design dental software (TDS) and used to design and mill zirconia and hybrid ceramic crowns using a 4-axis milling machine: 14 …

Establishing An Objective, Quantifiable Method For Detecting Erosive Tooth Wear, Camille Kita
Biological Sciences Undergraduate Honors Theses
This study aims to monitor and evaluate erosive tooth wear (ETW) by measurement of enamel surface thickness and texture in a clinical setting. The objective approach is fundamentally different from the standard subjective visual assessment that professionals in the dental field using the Basic Erosive Wear Evaluation (BEWE) method.
Twenty-nine hyposalivation and three control subjects were used in this longitudinal study, for a total of 597 samples (only 577 teeth were eligible for surface texture analysis) evaluated in a longitudinal study including both baseline and 12 month follow up surfaces. Each participant’s buccal surface of the tooth was first analyzed …

Effect Of Taper And Pitch On Nickle-Titanium File With Variable Cross Section To Its Cyclic Fatigue (In Silico Study), Yustika Chrysandra, Tunjung Nugraheni, Wignyo Hadriyanto
Journal of Dentistry Indonesia
The geometric design of an endodontic file includes cross-sectional shape, taper, and pitch. NiTi endodontic files of OneCurve (MicroMega) are made of two variations of cross-sectional shape, that is, double-s shaped and triple helix. Various kinds of modifications were made to increase the resistance of the NiTi endodontic files from fracture. Cyclic fatigue is the most common factor that causes a fracture of the endodontic file. Objective: The purpose of this study was to obtain a NiTi endodontic file design that has the best cyclic resistance value based on its taper size and number of pitch. Methods: This …

Mathematical Modeling For Dental Decay Prevention In Children And Adolescents, Mahdiyeh Soltaninejad
Mathematical Modeling For Dental Decay Prevention In Children And Adolescents, Mahdiyeh Soltaninejad
Dissertations
The high prevalence of dental caries among children and adolescents, especially those from lower socio-economic backgrounds, is a significant nationwide health concern. Early prevention, such as dental sealants and fluoride varnish (FV), is essential, but access to this care remains limited and disparate. In this research, a national dataset is utilized to assess sealants' reach and effectiveness in preventing tooth decay, particularly focusing on 2nd molars that emerge during early adolescence, a current gap in the knowledge base. FV is recommended to be delivered during medical well-child visits to children who are not seeing a dentist. Challenges and facilitators in …

BACKGROUND: Determination of the eligibility of several tooth analog materials for use in crown fracture testing. METHODS: A standardized premolar crown preparation was replicated into three types of resin dies (C&B, low modulus 3D printed resin; OnX, high modulus 3D printed resin composite; and highest modulus milled resin composite). 0.8 mm zirconia crowns were bonded to the dies and the maximum fracture load of the crowns was tested. Twelve extracted human premolars were prepared to a standardized crown preparation, and duplicate dies of the prepared teeth were 3D printed out of C&B. Zirconia crowns were bonded to both the dies …
Surface Modifications Of Orthodontic Bone Screws - A Novel Approach, Sai Kalyan Menta Dr, Ravi M. S
Surface Modifications Of Orthodontic Bone Screws - A Novel Approach, Sai Kalyan Menta Dr, Ravi M. S
Annual Research Symposium
Anchorage control plays a key role in the correction of malocclusion. With the advent of orthodontic bone screws, attaining absolute anchorage control has become hassle free. They have the advantages of low cost, simple surgical placement, and ease of removal; therefore, they are convenient in the treatment of various malocclusions. Although the clinical stability of bone screws is exceptionally high, stability of the bone screws is compromised by factors such as microbial contamination and morphological defects. To overcome this, surface modifications are introduced to enhance the stability of the bone screws.

Wound healing in simple terms is the healing of skin which involves various mechanisms. It is not dressings themselves that heal wounds, but the careful selection of appropriate dressings that provide the optimal wound-healing environment for the individual wound. Wound dressings are prepared from biopolymers, synthetic polymers and biomaterials.

The oral cavity is a complex and dynamic environment with frequent pH and temperature changes that can affect the longevity of dental restorations. Consequently, bioactive restorative materials, capable of advantageous interactions with the oral environment and dental tissues, are promising alternatives. However, there is limited scientific evidence of their clinical performance. Therefore, we conducted this systematic review and network meta-analysis of clinical studies to address the research question: Does the clinical evaluation of restorations on permanent teeth with bioactive materials show greater success rates than those with non-bioactive materials?

Build Angle Effect On 3d-Printed Dental Crowns Marginal Fit Using Digital Light- Processing And Stereo-Lithography Technology: An In Vitro Study, Omar Elsergany
Dentistry
Background The effect of 3D printing technology and build angle on the marginal fit of printed crowns is unclear. The objective of this research was to use digital light processing (DLP) and stereo-lithography (SLA)-based 3D printing to construct single restorations with varied build angles and to analyze the crowns′ marginal fit.
Methods A prepared resin first molar was scanned utilizing an optical scanner. Three build orientations were used to construct the specimens: 0, 45, and 90o. DLP and SLA technology were used to produce the casting patterns. A digital microscope was used to measure the marginal gaps. The effect of …
