Dentistry
Background: Surface roughness of dental implants impacts the survival of adult periodontal stem cells and rate of differentiation. This research was conducted to test how human periodontal ligament stem cells behaved on yttria stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystals and polyetheretherketone (PEEK) discs with different surface topographies. Methods: Discs roughening was prepared by sandblasting. Stem cells were cultivated on zirconia discs with a polished surface, PEEK discs with a polished surface, sandblasted zirconia discs and sandblasted PEEK discs. Cells viability was assessed after 24, 48, 72 hours. Scanning electron microscopy was used to examine the adherence and attachment of cells. Osteoblastic differentiation …

Sfd Indications And Technique: When And How To Use Sdf To Manage Caries Lesions, Margherita Fontana Dds, Phd
The Journal of the Michigan Dental Association
The aim of this article is to review indications for 38% SDF and the appropriate technique for use. Evidence-based recommendations by the American Dental Association and umbrella reviews of systematic reviews are summarized to provide indications for SDF use in primary and permanent teeth, including sound surfaces and those with non-cavitated and cavitated caries lesions. High-quality evidence supports that SDF is an effective treatment alternative for managing active cavitated coronal and root caries lesions and preventing root caries lesions. Dentists can help by incorporating SDF as an option into their caries prevention and management armamentarium and by helping to train …

This study investigated the effect of bleaching on color change of the single shade universal composite (Omnichroma) versus nano-filled resin composite (Z350 XT).
Methods: Twenty premolars of shade A3 were used for the study. Standardized class V cavities were prepared on the cervical third of the buccal surface of all teeth. After that, teeth were randomly divided into two groups of 10 teeth each according to the type of resin composite used. After composite application, all teeth were stored individually in distilled water for 24 hours. Evaluation of the restoration color was done using VITA Easyshade. The teeth were bleached …

The Effect Of Water Sorption And Solubility On Surface Properties Of Cad/Cam Materials, Chatchalanya Wansudon
The Effect Of Water Sorption And Solubility On Surface Properties Of Cad/Cam Materials, Chatchalanya Wansudon
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
The objective of this research was to examine sorption, solubility, and surface properties of three widely used CAD/CAM materials: resin composite (Cerasmart; CS), polymer-infiltrated ceramic network (Vita Enamic; VE) and lithium disilicate glass ceramic (IPS e.max CAD; LS). 45 rectangular-shaped specimens were prepared and immersed in deionized water for varying durations. These specimens were then subjected to evaluate their water sorption, solubility, surface roughness, and surface hardness. The results showed that immersion time significantly impacted water sorption of the tested materials (P.05). The 2-way ANCOVA revealed that water immersions had significant effects on surface hardness among tested CAD/CAM blocks (P.05). …

The Effect Of Universal Adhesives On Repairability Of Four Cad/Cam Blocks, Tanyaporn Treyasorasai
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
This study aimed to assess the repairability among four CAD/CAM blocks repaired with different universal adhesives after aging. The CAD/CAM blocks evaluated were polymer infiltrated ceramic network (VE), zirconium-reinforced lithium silicate ceramic (VS), feldspathic ceramic (VM), and lithium disilicate ceramic (IE). Each original block was prepared to create 120 specimens. After 10,000 cycles of thermocycling, surface pretreatment of each specimen was carried out by grinding and etching with a 9% hydrofluoric acid. Subsequently, specimens were divided into three groups: Clearfil™ TRI-S BOND (CUB), Scotchbond Universal Plus® (SUP), and Monobond N® (MN). Resin composite was then applied. All samples underwent another …

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Objective. With short-fiber reinforced resin composite (SFRC), improved mechanical strength and good workability could be achieved within a single material. However, there remains concerns related to microleakage, which could restrict the application of this material in certain clinical situations. Materials and Methods. Class II cavities were prepared in 80 premolars. Each group, consisting of 10 specimens, was restored with different materials: flowable bulk-fill SFRC (EverX Flow, EXF), bulk-fill SFRC (EverX Posterior, EXP), flowable bulk-fill (Tetric N-Flow, TNF), and conventional resin composite (Z350 XT, Z350). The specimens were divided into two subgroups: one underwent thermocycling of 20,000 cycles, while the other …

Matching dental antemortem (AM) and postmortem (PM) data for human identification is especially challenging when the workforce is limited. Dental hygienists have served mass fatality incidents (MFIs) due to dental-related expertise. However, forensics within dental hygiene education and research on transferable skills is limited. This qualitative balance design study assessed senior dental hygiene students' match accuracy of simulated cases varying in dental identifiers based on AM full mouth series (FMS) radiographs and oral photographs to PM WinID3® odontograms to demonstrate possible disaster victim identification (DVI) transferable skills gained during formal education. A convenience sample of senior dental hygiene students ( …

International Arab Journal of Dentistry
Introduction: Glass ionomer cements (GICs) are commonly used for restorations in primary molars due to their adhesive, hydrophilic, and bioactive properties. However, their low mechanical resistance may limit their use in proximal cavities. Recent advancements in GICs, such as the high viscosity GIC EQUIA Forte®, have improved their mechanical properties. The effect of a Cavo superficial bevel on the mechanical strength of GIC restorations has been previously studied.
Objectives: To investigate the effect of a Cavo superficial bevel on fracture resistance and the type of fracture (adhesive, cohesive, or catastrophic) in EQUIA Forte® GIC restorations in primary molars. …
