Effect Of Dynamic Fatigue Loading On The Adaptation And Retention Of Maxillary Single Dentures Reinforced With Digitally Constructed Zirconia And Cobalt–Chromium Frameworks, Ghada Elgindy, Fardos N Rizk, Marwa Ezzat Sabet, Hebatallah Tarek Mohamed
Dentistry
Background. The impact of dynamic fatigue loading on denture adaptation and retention is clinically important. Zirconia and cobalt–chromium (Co–Cr) frameworks enhance denture strength, but their performance under cyclic loading remains unclear. Objectives. The aim of the study was to evaluate the adaptation and retention of maxillary single dentures reinforced with digitally constructed Co–Cr or zirconia frameworks after a simulated 1 year of function. Material and methods. Three types of maxillary single dentures were constructed on maxillary master casts. Group A included maxillary dentures without reinforcement (control group), whereas groups B and C encompassed maxillary dentures reinforced with digitally designed and …

Materials and Methods: 50 human central incisors were assigned to 5 study groups (n=10) according to different surface intervention: Group 1: Positive Control (sound teeth not subjected to demineralization); Group 2: Negative Control (teeth subjected to demineralization); Group 3: CPP-ACP paste (remineralization of demineralized lesions with CPP-ACP, Tooth Mousse, GC); Group 4: HAp toothpaste (remineralization of demineralized lesions subjected with HAp, Herbadent Remin); Group 5: Resin infiltration (resin infiltration of demineralized lesions with ICON, DMG). Microhardness (MH) was evaluated …
From Silos To Systems: A Conceptual Framework For Workforce Aligned Oral Health Education, Meghan Bastin
From Silos To Systems: A Conceptual Framework For Workforce Aligned Oral Health Education, Meghan Bastin
2026 Scholarly Teaching Conference: Poster Session Papers
In the current U.S. educational system, becoming a dentist follows a few prescriptive pathways. Learners typically complete an undergraduate degree before entering time-intensive doctoral training. This results in only 3-4 years of direct professional education embedded within an eight -year process, while learners accumulate significant financial investment in their education. With the average cost of graduate-level dental education alone exceeding $300,000 and new federal borrowing limits likely to further constrain access, there is an opportunity to explore alternative ways of structuring oral health education.
This poster presents a conceptual, system-level framework that explores a perspective in which oral health education …

PURPOSE: To evaluate how commercially available composite resins in varying filler content affect the fabrication and fit accuracy (trueness and precision) of additively manufactured (AM) definitive crowns with different margin thickness and cement gaps by comparing them to subtractively manufactured (SM) polymer-infiltrated ceramic crowns. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Two identical unprepared mandibular right first molars were prepared by an experienced prosthodontist for crowns with either 0.5 mm or 1.0 mm chamfer margins, verified using silicone indexes and a periodontal probe, and then digitized with an industrial-grade scanner. These scan files were used to design reference crowns with either 50-µm or 80-µm …
Centering And Shaping Abilities Of Three Different Cross-Section Rotary Systems In Curved Canals Using Cbct, Sherif Shafik
Centering And Shaping Abilities Of Three Different Cross-Section Rotary Systems In Curved Canals Using Cbct, Sherif Shafik
Dentistry
ABSTRACT The aim of the study was to examine the centering and shaping abilities of the E3 Azure, T Blue and XPRS rotary devices in severely curved root canals utilizing CBCT. 51 mesial roots were used in this study, then distributed into three groups of 17 mesial canals each according to the instrumentation technique: T-Blue, E3 Azure and XPS. The final apical size of instrumentation was 30/0.04 for all groups. At 2 mm, all pairwise comparisons were statistically significant, with Azure showing the highest transportation, followed by T-Blue, and XPS showing the least (p< 0.001). At 4 mm and 6 mm, Azure and T-Blue showed significantly higher transportation than XPS (p< 0.001). For XP-Shaper files, centering ratios followed a descending order from 6 mm to 4 mm and were lowest at 2 mm, with all pairwise comparisons being statistically significant (p< 0.001). it was concluded that XPS show lesser transportation and better centering ability.

OBJECTIVES: To compare surface treatments (as-printed, optical polish, resin-coated, polished) of two 3D-printed occlusal device materials (KeySplint Soft and NightGuard Flex 2) cured with or without glycerin for surface roughness, translucency, and coffee staining. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Discs (2 mm thick) from two 3D-printed occlusal resins (KeySplint Soft and NightGuard Flex 2) were printed using a DLP 3D printer (SprintRay Pro 95), cleaned (ProWash S), and cured (ProCure 2) with or without glycerin. Some specimens were printed in an optical polish tank. Specimens were either as-printed, resin-coated, or polished. Reference milled (ProArt CAD Splint) and heat-cured (Excel Formula Heat Cure …

Objectives: This study investigated the effect of marginal adaptation and internal fit of premolar teeth restored with indirect overlays, fabricated from different CAD/CAM materials (lithium-disilicate and composite blocks). Materials and Methods: Twenty-two intact premolars with standardized concave chamfer overlay preparation were divided into two groups (n= 18) Group (A): lithium disilicate blocks and Group (B): composite blocks. All groups cemented with dual cured resin cement. After 24h of storage at 37°C followed by thermocycling. Marginal gap evaluation evaluated using a stereomicroscope at x50 magnification at 4 points at each surface. Specimens were then sectioned mesiodistally to assess internal fit. Statistical …

PURPOSE: To evaluate how build orientation affects the fabrication trueness of additively manufactured implant-supported complete arch prostheses by comparing them to subtractively manufactured high-impact polymer-based prostheses. MATERIALS AND METHODS: An edentulous maxillary model with four implants at canine and first molar regions bilaterally was digitized (ATOS Core 80 5MP) to design a reference implant-supported complete arch prosthesis standard tessellation language file (RF-STL). The STL file was used to manufacture prostheses additively in five different orientations according to the build platform (AM-0, 0-degree; AM-15, 15-degree; AM-30, 30-degree; AM-45, 45-degree; AM-90, 90-degree) or subtractively (SM-HIP, control) (n = 10). This study aimed to evaluate the effect of different finishing and polishing systems (one-step, two-step, and multi-step) and the application of a diamond polishing paste on color stability, surface roughness, and surface morphology of a CAD/CAM composite block. A total of seventy-seven blocks from eight composite CAD/CAM blocks were used in this study. They were divided into three main groups (22 each) according to the different finishing and polishing systems used one-step, two-step, or multi-step systems. In addition to these groups, the control group (n = 11) has no treatment. Depending on whether the polishing paste was used, each group …
