Pharmacology courses in any institution are information intensive with a constant, high volume of new material. With that in mind, the standards that the American Dental Education Association set for Pharmacology include that: “the student must identify the influences drugs taken for non-dental purposes may have on a proposed treatment (…) and the student must recognize therapeutic agents used in the routine practice of clinical dentistry.” This requires that students at a minimum, recognize common drugs and know their major implications for dental therapy.

We conducted a prospective recruitment of students at the Faculty of Dentistry of the Mohammed VI University of Sciences and Health to investigate the determinants of stress specific to this population in order to find solutions to improve their quality of life. In our study, 410 students responded to the survey, the average age of the students was 21.51 ± 2.102 years, 70% were female, 30% were in their 6th year, and 60% of the students were from Casablanca. Mucormycosis is an invasive and possibly fatal fungal infection that frequently affects the mouth. Co-infection in post COVID-19 patients is an emerging concern, owing to their complex nature and higher mortality. Therefore, this study aimed to report the underlying risk factors, clinical characteristics, presentation, and final outcome of COVID-19 associated oral mucormycosis cases.

Results

This study included 51 patients with oral mucormycosis 28 (55%) males and 23 (45%) females. Twenty-three patients (45%) presented with deep necrotic ulcer, 16 patients (31%) presented with superficial ulcer, and 12 patients (23%) of them presented with fistula. The overall survival rate was 51% …

The mandibular condylar cartilage (MCC) is an essential component of the temporomandibular joint, which orchestrates the vertical growth of the mandibular ramus through endochondral ossification with distinctive modes of cell differentiation. Parathyroid hormone–related protein (PTHrP) is a master regulator of chondrogenesis; in the long bone epiphyseal growth plate, PTHrP expressed by resting zone chondrocytes promotes chondrocyte proliferation in the adjacent layer. However, how PTHrP regulates chondrogenesis in the MCC remains largely unclear.
