Objective: Autologous Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is used to accelerate orthodontic tooth movement, but its effect is still controversial. Materials and Methods: Twenty-eight male white Vienna rabbits were divided randomly into two main groups control and PRP. Each group included fourteen rabbits. Tooth movement was measured in seven rabbits from each group after 3 and 14 days respectively. Orthodontic tooth movement was generated by closed coil spring ligated between the mandibular first premolar and mandibular central incisors on both sides. Objective: This laboratory study was conducted to evaluate the effect of different bevel designs (2mm bevel, skirt bevel and scalloped bevel) on microleakage and shear bond strength of class IV composite restorations. Materials and Methods: Sixty extracted human permanent maxillary central incisors were selected and a standardized mesio-incisal fracture was created. Teeth were divided into 3 groups (n=20) according to different bevel designs (2mm bevel, skirt bevel and scalloped bevel). BACKGROUND: Nance-Horan syndrome (NHS) is a rare X-linked genetic disorder characterized by ophthalmologic and dental anomalies as well as dysmorphic facies. The clinical phenotype in males includes congenital cataracts, vision loss, microcornea, nystagmus, microphthalmia, glaucoma, screwdriver blade-shaped incisors, supernumerary maxillary incisors, diastema, delays, intellectual disability, and dysmorphic facies. With the evolution of array-CGH technology, a total of five kindreds with NHS have been reported in the medical literature with microdeletions encompassing the NHS gene rather than sequencing variants.

Now, with clinical practice guidelines and state toolkits, more dentists are aware of and actively practicing antibiotic stewardship. With the application of antibiotic stewardship practices, dentists are identifying the need for additional tools to enhance practice. For example, one need that has been identified is a tool for screening patients for true penicillin allergies. AIM: The goal was to use a deep convolutional neural network to measure the radiographic alveolar bone level to aid periodontal diagnosis.

MATERIALS AND METHODS: A deep learning (DL) model was developed by integrating three segmentation networks (bone area, tooth, cemento-enamel junction) and image analysis to measure the radiographic bone level and assign radiographic bone loss (RBL) stages. The percentage of RBL was calculated to determine the stage of RBL for each tooth. A provisional periodontal diagnosis was assigned using the 2018 periodontitis classification. Narrow diameter implants and mini-implants are preferred by dentists for restoration of missing teeth on narrow ridges. However, such implants are associated with long-term complications including soft tissue deficiencies. This case report describes a novel approach using a connective tissue graft to resolve peri-implant mucositis. A 66-year old male patient presented with inflammation and abscess in relation to a mini-implant, at the upper left incisor, on the facial aspect. Deficiencies of keratinized tissue and width of attached gingiva were observed. Surgical management was performed using subepithelial connective tissue. This study examined patient satisfaction and changes in quality of life (QoL) following the orthognathic surgery performed to treat severe dentofacial deformities. The short form of the oral health impact profile (OHIP-14) instrument was utilized to measure the negative impact related to severe dentofacial deformities on QoL. Ninety-five patients participated in this survey. Respondents reported significant reduction in the overall OHIP-14 score following the orthognathic surgery (p-value<0.0001). Approximately 92% reported post-operative resolution of their chief concerns. In conclusion, orthognathic surgery was found beneficial as it significantly reduced the negative impact of severe skeletal malocclusion on QoL of the patient we surveyed.

Lipomas are common soft tissue neoplasms, usually present in the trunk and proximal portions of the extremities and less frequent in the mouth. We reported the case of a 51-year-old patient, affected by an intra/extra-oral swelling for 8 months. Aspiration, surgical excision and histopathological examination confirmed that it was a simple oral lipoma, although clinically and surgically, it mimicked an infiltrating lipoma. Conservative surgical treatment, preferably by an intra-oral approach provides less morbidity and less sequelae for patients.

Medical imaging devices often use automated processing that creates and displays a self-normalized image. When improperly executed, normalization can misrepresent information or result in an inaccurate analysis. In the case of diagnostic imaging, a false positive in the absence of disease, or a negative finding when disease is present, can produce a detrimental experience for the patient and diminish their health prospects and prognosis. Background: China is the largest tobacco producer and has the highest number of tobacco consumers in the world. Extensive research has demonstrated the utility of social media for smoking cessation. WeChat is the most commonly used social media platform in China, but has not yet been utilized for smoking cessation interventions.
