Problem Ankyloglossia occurs when the tongue cannot extend past the gums or lips due to frenulum restriction. In breast feeding, proper movement of the tongue around the nipple is hindered causing difficulty for the infant to obtain a proper latch. This may result in slow weight gain (SWG), failure to thrive (FTT), and dehydration due to poor milk production. Evaluating for ankyloglossia is difficult, however, the Hazelbaker Ankyloglossia Tool for Lingual Frenulum Function (HATLFF) may be of benefit.

While treating them as independent contractors offers advantages, such as avoiding payroll taxes and paperwork, it must align with specific IRS criteria. The classification hinges on the degree of control the practice exerts over their work, encompassing behavioral and financial control. If the practice significantly controls aspects like duties, hours, and business aspects, it may be wiser to classify them as employees. Objective:A popular product to facilitate removal of excess adhesive during bonding of orthodontic appliances is a color changing adhesive. Before polymerization, these materials are a bright color but upon curing, manufacturers claim they become translucent. After debonding, there is often resin embedded within the enamel, so the appearance of these materials after polymerization can affect the esthetics of a patient’s dentition. Objective: The objective of this study was to assess the accuracy, validity, and reliability of measurements obtained by MotionView's Ortho Share 360 program compared to traditional manual measurements of 3D printed models using a standardized ABO measuring gauge. In detail, the study aimed to evaluate the difference in total ABO Cast Radiographic-Evaluation (CRE) score and individual differences among six ABO CRE parameters. The null hypothesis is that there are no statistically different scores between digital and manual measurements. Since antiquity, frankincense has been traded as a precious commodity, but it has also been used for the treatment of chronic disease, inflammation, oral health, and microbial infection. Purpose: Assess mandibular condylar/subcondylar and angle fracture patterns in the presence or absence of third molars. Patients and Methods: Retrospective cohort study of 234 patients with mandibular fractures. Odds ratios were calculated to determine relative risk of angle and condylar/subcondylar fractures when third molar teeth were present or absent. Results: Condylar/subcondylar fractures were twice as likely to be avoided if a third molar was present; angle fractures were twice as likely to occur with retained third molars. This is a Case Report of a 72 y/ old patient that was wearing two removable prostheses, a maxillary complete denture and a mandibular complete denture retained by two implants and locator attachments. The patients’ medical condition is complicated, the patient is blind, has suffered from kidney failure and has a donated kidney. She also suffers from diabetes. The patient’s desires were to convert both prostheses to fixed restorations. In a recent JDR Clinical & Translational Research report, the American Dental Association's clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) were determined to offer high-quality guidance for the dental profession. The study employed the AGREE II tool to validate the ADA's guidelines’ methodological rigor and transparency, ensuring their quality. This external review is promising for the profession, as it indicates that the ADA has developed reliable CPGs that support advocacy and implementation. Current treatments for xerostomia/dry mouth are palliative and largely ineffective. A permanent clinical resolution is being developed to correct hyposalivation using implanted hydrogel-encapsulated salivary human stem/progenitor cells (hS/PCs) to restore functional salivary components and increase salivary flow. Pluripotent epithelial cell populations derived from hS/PCs, representing a basal stem cell population in tissue, can differentiate along either secretory acinar or fluid-transporting ductal lineages. To develop tissue-engineered salivary gland replacement tissues, it is critical to reliably identify cells in tissue and as they enter these alternative lineages. Purpose: The purpose of this article is to present an interesting, rare case of a patient who experienced avascular necrosis of the maxilla associated with COVID-19 infection.

Methods and results: Our team retrospectively evaluated this patient's chart after completion of surgical management. The patient is a 72-year-old male who presented to the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston for surgical management of his infarcted maxilla, which developed as a sequela of infection with COVID-19. A literature review was completed using PubMed. Twenty-five articles are reviewed and discussed.
