Cationic liposome-DNA complexes ('lipoplexes') are used as gene delivery vehicles and may overcome some of the limitations of viral vectors for gene therapy applications. The interaction of highly positively charged lipoplexes with biological macromolecules in blood and tissues is one of the drawbacks of this system. We examined whether coating cationic liposomes with human serum albumin (HSA) could generate complexes that maintained transfection activity. The association of HSA with liposomes composed of 1,2-dioleoyl-3-(trimethylammonium) propane and dioleoylphosphatidylethanolamine, and subsequent complexation with the plasmid pCMVluc greatly increased luciferase expression in epithelial and lymphocytic cell lines above that obtained with plain lipoplexes. Cationic lipids are being used increasingly as reagents for gene delivery both in vitro and in vivo. One of the limitations to the application of cationic lipid-DNA complexes (lipoplexes) in vivo is the inhibition of gene delivery by serum. In this study, we have shown that transferrin (Tf)-lipoplexes, which had transferrin adsorbed at their surface via electrostatic interactions, are much more effective than plain lipoplexes in transfecting cells in the presence of relatively high concentrations (up to 60%) of fetal bovine serum (FBS). Pulpal Tissue In Bilateral Talon Cusps Of Primary Central Incisors: Report Of A Case, H. Cem Güngör, Nil Altay, F. Figen Kaymaz

Talon cusp is a tooth anomaly that affects both the primary and the permanent dentitions. However, the occurrence of this anomalous cusp is rather infrequent in the primary dentition. Only 7 cases of bilateral talon cusps affecting the primary teeth have been reported in the dental literature. This is a case report of bilateral talon cusps on primary maxillary central incisors whose histologic evaluation revealed the existence of pulpal tissue in the anomalous cusps.

วัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อประเมินด้านความคิดเห็นของผู้ป่วยใหม่ที่มาติดต่อ เกี่ยวกับการบริการรักษาพยาบาลทางทันตกรรม ในคลินิกรวมคณะทันตแพทยศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย วัสดุและวิธีการ เก็บข้อมูลในผู้ป่วยใหม่ที่มาติดต่อเพื่อขอรับการรักษาทางทันตกรรมที่คลินิกรวมในระหว่างเดือนเมษายน ถึง เดือนมิถุนายน พ.ศ. 2542 โดยใช้แบบสอบถามจํานวน 500 ฉบับ และนําข้อมูลมาวิเคราะห์โดยใช้ สถิติเชิงพรรณนา ผลการศึกษา พบว่าผู้ป่วยส่วนใหญ่ไม่ทราบว่าในคณะทันตแพทยศาสตร์ จุฬาฯ มีประเภทของคลินิกให้เลือก 3 ประเภท รวมทั้งไม่ทราบว่าแต่ละประเภทของคลินิก ผู้ให้การรักษาและเวลาในการมารับการรักษาแตกต่างกัน ผู้ป่วย ส่วนใหญ่คาดหวังว่าเมื่อมาติดต่อที่คลินิกรวมผู้ป่วยจะได้รับการรักษาเลย และเมื่อพิจารณาถึงความพึงพอใจของ ผู้ป่วยต่อระบบงานของคลินิกรวม ผู้ป่วยไม่พึงพอใจในด้านการเข้าคิวของการรักษา ส่วนในด้านช่วงเวลา ความถี่ ของเวลาในการมารับการรักษา ตลอดจนผู้ให้การรักษา ส่วนใหญ่อยู่ในระดับพอใจปานกลาง สรุป ผู้ป่วยใหม่ส่วนใหญ่ไม่ทราบเกี่ยวกับระบบงานในการบริการรักษาพยาบาลทางทันตกรรมในคลินิกรวม คณะ ทันตแพทยศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย ตลอดจนไม่ทราบถึงระบบงานทั่วๆ ไปของคณะทันตแพทยศาสตร์ จุฬาฯ ด้วย ซึ่งสาเหตุนี้อาจเป็นสาเหตุหนึ่งที่ทําให้เกิดปัญหากับการทํางาน รวมทั้งผู้ป่วยและผู้เกี่ยวข้อง

ลักษณะทางกายวิภาคของคลองราก ในฟันหน้าล่างของคนไทยกลุ่มหนึ่ง, สมไชย ลิ้มสมบัติอนันต์, สุพัตรา โต๊ะชูดี

วัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อศึกษารูปร่างลักษณะทางกายวิภาคของคลองรากฟัน ในฟันหน้าล่างของคนไทยและเปรียบเทียบ ผลกับการศึกษาที่ผ่านมา วัสดุและวิธีการ ฟันหน้าล่างจํานวน 650 สภาพค่อนข้างสมบูรณ์ ที่รวบรวมจากสถานพยาบาลทางทันตกรรม ทั้งในกรุงเทพฯ และต่างจังหวัด ได้รับการวัดความยาว และเปิดช่องทางเข้าสู่โพรงเนื้อเยื่อในฟัน หลังจากแช่ฟันใน โซเดียมไฮโปคลอไรท์ 5.25% เป็นเวลา 24 ช.ม.แล้ว ฟันทั้งหมดได้ผ่านขั้นตอนต่างๆ ตามกรรมวิธีการทําฟันใส จากนั้นทําการฉีด อินเดีย อิงค์ เข้าสู่โพรงเนื้อเยื่อในฟันและระบบคลองราก โดยใช้เครื่องดูดแรงสูง ช่วยดูดตรงรูเปิด ปลายรากฟัน ลักษณะคลองรากฟันที่ปรากฏ ได้รับการศึกษาและจําแนกลักษณะ ภายใต้กล้องจุลทรรศน์ชนิดสเตริโอ โดยยึดถือตามการจําแนกลักษณะระบบคลองรากฟันของเวอร์ทุกซี่ ผลการศึกษา ฟันเขี้ยวล่างทั้งหมดที่ศึกษาพบว่ามีคลองรากเดียว ส่วนฟันตัดล่างพบลักษณะคลองรากฟันแบบที่ 1 แบบที่ 2 แบบที่ 3 แบบที่ 4 และแบบที่ 6 ร้อยละ 74.65 6.95 6.42 11.11 และ 0.87 ตามลําดับ ในกลุ่มฟัน แบบที่ 2 และแบบที่ 3 ที่มีสองคลองรากแล้วมีการรวมกันเป็นคลองรากเดียวก่อนออกสู่ปลายรากนั้น โอกาสที่พบว่า การรวมกัน เกิดขึ้น ณ ระดับ 4 ม.ม. หรือมากกว่า จากรูเปิดปลายรากมีเพียงร้อยละ 11.84 ความยาวเฉลี่ยของ ฟันตัด และฟันเขี้ยว มีค่าเท่ากับ 20.6 และ 23.5 ม.ม. ตามลําดับ สรุป การศึกษาลักษณะทางกายวิภาคของคลองรากฟันหน้าล่างในคนไทยกลุ่มหนึ่ง ปรากฏผลว่าฟันเขี้ยวที่ศึกษา ทั้งหมด มีคลองรากเดียว ส่วนในฟันตัด พบอุบัติการณ์สองคลองรากร้อยละ 25.35

Objective To estimate the prevalence and distribution of impacted premolars in a group of New Zealand children aged 10 to 15 years and to report any associate findings. Materials and methods Panoramic radiographs of 1608 children aged 10 to 15 years were selected. All children had been registered as patients of the School of Dentistry, University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand since 1969. ผลของน้ำยาทําลายเชื้อต่อค่ากําลังตัดขวาง และค่าความสามารถในการดัดงอก่อนหักของอะคริลิกเรซินที่ใช้ทําฐานฟันปลอม, นิยม ธำรงค์อนันต์สกุล, สรรพ์อนงค์ นักสอน, รัชฏากรณ์ อิสระพัฒนะพงษ์, ปิยวัฒน์ พันธุ์โกศล

วัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อศึกษาค่ากําลังตัดขวางและค่าความสามารถในการดัดงอก่อนหักของอะคริลิกเรซินที่แช่ในน้ํายา ทําลายเชื้อ 3 ชนิด คือ 2% กลูตาราลดีไฮด์ 0.5% โซเดียมไฮโปคลอไรท์ และ 70% เอทิลแอลกอฮอล์ ที่ระยะเวลาต่างกัน วัสดุและวิธีการ นําชิ้นทดสอบอะคริลิกเรซินทั้งชนิดที่บ่มด้วยความร้อนและชนิดที่บ่มด้วยตนเอง (เมลิโอเต็นท์ เยอรมันนี) แบ่งเป็น 20 กลุ่ม กลุ่มละ 5 ชิ้น แช่ในน้ํายาทําลายเชื้อ 3 ชนิดคือ 2% กลูตาราลดีไฮด์ 0.5% โซ เดียมไฮโปคลอไรท์ และ 70% เอทิลแอลกอฮอล์ ตามระยะเวลาดังต่อไปนี้คือ แช่ที่ระยะเวลา 10 นาที แช่ที่ระยะ เวลาที่สามารถทําลายเชื้อได้มากที่สุด (10 ชั่วโมง สําหรับ 2% กลูตาราลดีไฮด์ 15 นาทีสําหรับ 0.5% โซเดียม ไฮโปคลอไรท์ และ 20 นาทีสําหรับ 70% เอทิลแอลกอฮอล์) และแช่ที่ระยะเวลา 14 วัน จากนั้นนําชิ้นทดสอบ อะคริลิกเรซินไปทดสอบด้วยวิธีกด 3 จุดเพื่อหาค่ากําลังตัดขวางและค่าความสามารถในการดัดงอก่อนหักของอะคริ ลิกเรซิน ด้วยเครื่องลอยด์ยูนิเวอร์ซัลเทสติ้ง รุ่น แอลอาร์ 10 เค ผลการศึกษา เมื่อวิเคราะห์ค่ากําลังตัดขวางและค่าความสามารถในการดัดงอก่อนหักของอะคริลิกเรซินทางสถิติ ด้วย Kruskal Wallis Test และ Mann-Whitney U Test ที่ระดับความเชื่อมั่น 0.05 พบว่าอะครีลิกเรซินชนิด บ่มด้วยความร้อนที่แช่ใน 70% เอทิลแอลกอฮอล์มีค่ากําลังตัดขวางและค่าความสามารถในการดัดงอก่อนหักลดลง อย่างมีนัยสําคัญทางสถิติ (p<0.05) ทั้ง 3 ช่วงเวลา ส่วนอะคริลิกเรซินชนิดบ่มด้วยตนเอง มีค่ากําลังตัดขวาง และค่าความสามารถในการดัดงอก่อนหักลดลงอย่างมีนัยสําคัญทางสถิติ (p<0.05) 2 ช่วงเวลาคือที่ 10 และ 20 นาที โดยกลุ่มที่แช่นานถึง 2 สัปดาห์มีลักษณะยืดหยุ่นคล้ายยางจึงไม่สามารถหาค่าได้ ส่วนอะครีลิกเรซินทั้งที่บ่ม ด้วยความร้อนและบ่มด้วยตนเองที่แช่ใน 0.5% โซเดียมไฮโปคลอไรท์ และที่แช่ใน 2% กลูตาราลดีไฮด์ไม่พบความ แตกต่างของค่ากําลังตัดขวางและค่าความสามารถในการดัดงอก่อนหักอย่างมีนัยสําคัญทางสถิติ (p>0.05) ทั้ง 3 ช่วงเวลา สรุป ดังนั้นการทําลายเชื้อบนฟันปลอมฐานอะคริลิกเรซิน โดยการแช่ใน 70% เอทิลแอลกอฮอล์จึงเป็นวิธีการที่ไม่เหมาะสม

เปรียบเทียบเชื้อจุลินทรีย์ที่นํามาจากร่องลึกปริทันต์ ของผู้ป่วยด้วยโรคปริทันต์ ระหว่างก่อนและหลังการรักษา ด้วย 2% ไมโนซัยคลิน (เพอริโอคลิน) เฉพาะที่, จินตกร คูวัฒนสุชาติ, ณรงค์ศักดิ์ เหล่าศรีสิน

วัตถุประสงค์ ต้องการศึกษาดูผลของยาไมโนชัยคลิน (เพอริโอคลิน) 2% ที่ใช้เฉพาะที่ ต่อเชื้อที่อาศัยอยู่ใน ร่องลึกปริทันต์ผู้ป่วยด้วยโรคปริทันต์ วัสดุและวิธีการ แบ่งพื้นที่ศึกษาออกเป็น 2 กลุ่ม คือกลุ่มควบคุมที่ไม่ได้ใส่ยา กับกลุ่มที่ใส่ยา สําหรับกลุ่มที่ ใส่ยา จะใส่ยาไมโนชัยคลิน (เพอริโอคลิน) 2% สัปดาห์ละครั้ง เป็นเวลา 4 สัปดาห์ติดต่อกัน การเก็บตัวอย่างเชื้อ จากร่องลึกปริทันต์มาศึกษา จะทําการเก็บเชื้อครั้งที่ 1 (ตรงกับสัปดาห์ที่ 6) โดยเก็บก่อนใส่ยาหลังเก็บเชื้อครั้งที่ 1 จะทําการขูดล้างหินน้ำลายและเกลารากฟันทั้งฟันซี่ที่เป็นของกลุ่มควบคุมและที่เป็นของกลุ่มที่ใส่ยา ส่วนการเก็บเชื้อครั้งที่ 2 จะเก็บในสัปดาห์ที่ 4 และเก็บเชื้อครั้งที่ 3 ในสัปดาห์ที่ 12 ผลการศึกษา : พบว่ายาไมโนชัยคลิน (เพอริโอคลิน) 2% ที่ใช้เฉพาะที่ มีผลต่อเชื้อที่อาศัยอยู่ในร่องลึกปริทันต์ ของผู้ป่วยด้วยโรคปริทันต์ โดยจะมีผลต่อกลุ่มเชื้อพวกที่ไม่ต้องการออกซิเจนในการเจริญเติบโตอย่างชัดเจน ซึ่งใน กลุ่มที่ใส่ยาจํานวนเชื้อจะลดลงอย่างมีนัยสําคัญทางสถิติหลังจากใส่ยาไป เมื่อเปรียบเทียบกับก่อนใช้ยา ส่วนในกลุ่มควบคุมหรือกลุ่มที่ไม่ได้ใส่ยา จํานวนเชื้อที่ลดลงส่วนมากไม่มีนัยสําคัญทางสถิติเมื่อเปรียบเทียบจํานวนเชื้อที่พบก่อนทําการรักษากับภายหลังท่าการรักษา สรุป : ไมโนชัยคลิน 2% ที่ใช้เฉพาะที่ สามารถลดจํานวนเชื้อพวกที่ไม่ต้องการออกซิเจนในการเจริญเติบโตที่อาศัย อยู่ในร่องลึกปริทันต์ของผู้ป่วยด้วยโรคปริทันต์ลงอย่างมีนัยสําคัญทางสถิติ

ผลของน้ำยาทําความสะอาดฟันปลอมต่อค่ากําลังตัดขวางและค่าความสามารถในการดัดงอก่อนหัก ของอะคริลิก เรซิน, นิยม ธำรงค์อนันต์สกุล, อิทธิเดช ตรงต่อศักดิ์, แพน สุ่นสวัสดิ์, ปิยวัฒน์ พันธุ์โกศล

วัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อศึกษาผลของน้ํายาทําความสะอาดฟันปลอมที่มีผลต่อค่ากําลังตัดขวาง และค่าความสามารถในการดัดงอก่อนหักของอะคริลิก เรซิน วัสดุและวิธีการ นําขึ้นอะคริลิก เรซิน ชนิดบ่มด้วยความร้อน (เมเจอร์ เบส 2) แช่ในน้ํายาทําความสะอาดฟันปลอม 4 ชนิด (สเตอราเต็นท์ เซเคียว โพลิเดนท์ และน้ําส้มสายชู) โดยใช้ชิ้นทดสอบกลุ่มละ 7 ชิ้น แช่ในน้ํายาทําความ สะอาดฟันปลอมแต่ละชนิดเป็นจํานวน 0 90 180 270 และ 360 ครั้ง ๆ ละ 30 นาที จากนั้นนําชิ้นทดสอบไป หาค่ากําลังตัดขวางและค่าความสามารถในการดัดงอก่อนหักด้วยเครื่องลอยด์ รุ่นแอลอาร์ 10 เค ผลการศึกษา เมื่อวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลทางสถิติด้วยคัสคาล วัลลิส เทส และแมน-วิทนีย์ ยู เทส ที่ระดับความเชื่อมั่น 0.05 พบว่าค่ากําลังตัดขวางของชิ้นอะคริลิก เรซินที่แช่ในสเตอราเต็นท์ เซเคียว และโพลิเต็นท์ ที่แซ่เป็นจํานวน 0 ครั้ง 90 180 270 และ 360 ครั้ง ไม่มีความแตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสําคัญทางสถิติแต่ที่แช่ในน้ําส้มสายชูที่ จํานวน 360 มีค่ากําลังตัดขวางลดลงอย่างมีนัยสําคัญทางสถิติ (p<0.05) เมื่อเทียบกับที่แช่เป็นจํานวน 0 90 180 และ 270 ครั้ง ส่วนค่าความสามารถในการดัดงอก่อนหักของชิ้นอะคริลิก เรซิน ที่แช่ในน้ำยาทําความสะอาดฟันปลอมทั้ง 4 ชนิด ที่แช่เป็นจํานวน 360 ครั้ง มีค่าลดลงอย่างมีนัยสําคัญทางสถิติ (p<0.05) เมื่อเทียบกับที่แช่ที่ 0 90 180 และ 270 ครั้ง และในกลุ่มน้ําส้มสายชูที่แช่ 270 ครั้ง มีค่าความสามารถในการดัดงอก่อนหักลดลงอย่างมีนัยสําคัญ ทางสถิติ (p<0.05) เมื่อเทียบกับกลุ่มที่แซ่ 0 ครั้ง สรุป การใช้น้ําส้มสายชูแซ่อะคริลิก เรซิน เพื่อทําความสะอาดฟันปลอมอาจมีผลทําให้ค่ากําลังตัดขวางและค่าความสามารถในการตัดงอก่อนหักของอะคริลิก เรซินลดลงได้

วัตถุประสงค์ การศึกษานี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ที่จะเปรียบเทียบประสิทธิภาพการบดเคี้ยวอาหารระหว่างประชากรวัยผู้ใหญ่ และวัยรุ่นที่มีฟันครบและศึกษาปัจจัยด้านเพศ, ด้านเคี้ยวที่ถนัด และเวลาที่ใช้ในการเคี้ยวที่มีอิทธิพลต่อประสิทธิภาพการบดเคี้ยว นอกเหนือจากจํานวนพื้นที่เหลืออยู่ในช่องปาก วัสดุและวิธีการ ทําการสุ่มตัวอย่างโดยความบังเอิญจากประชากรวัยผู้ใหญ่อายุ 35-44 ปี และประชากรวัยรุ่นอายุ 15-24 ปี กลุ่มละ 40 คน เป็นเพศชายและเพศหญิงเท่าๆ กันโดยทุกคนมีฟันธรรมชาติครบ 28 ซี่ (ไม่นับฟัน กรามซี่สุดท้ายทั้ง 4 ที่) มีสุขภาพสมบูรณ์และไม่มีความผิดปกติใดๆ ซึ่งจะเป็นอุปสรรคต่อการบดเคี้ยว ทดสอบ ประสิทธิภาพการบดเคี้ยวอาหารโดยให้เคี้ยวแครอทสดน้ําหนัก 3 กรัม ด้วยด้านที่ถนัด จับเวลาที่ใช้ในการบดเคี้ยว จบครบ 30 ครั้ง วิเคราะห์ผลการทดลองโดยเปรียบเทียบค่าเฉลี่ยต่างๆ ระหว่างกลุ่มตัวอย่าง 2 กลุ่ม ด้วยการ ทดสอบ ที และระหว่างกลุ่มตัวอย่างมากกว่า 2 กลุ่มขึ้นไปด้วยการทดสอบ เอฟ วิเคราะห์ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่าง ปัจจัยต่างๆ ด้วยการทดสอบไคสแควร์ โดยใช้ระดับความเชื่อมั่นร้อยละ 95 ผลการศึกษา จากการศึกษาพบว่ากลุ่มประชากรวัยผู้ใหญ่ใช้เวลาในการบดเคี้ยวจนครบ 30 ครั้ง นาน 26.25 วินาที และมีค่าเฉลี่ยร้อยละของประสิทธิภาพการบดเคี้ยวสูงถึง 84.50 ในขณะที่กลุ่มวัยรุ่นใช้เวลาในการบดเคี้ยวเพียง 20.26 วินาที และมีค่าเฉลี่ยร้อยละของประสิทธิภาพการบดเคี้ยวเพียง 68.20 เวลาที่ใช้ในการบดเคี้ยวและ ประสิทธิภาพการบดเคี้ยวของกลุ่มผู้ใหญ่นานกว่าและสูงกว่ากลุ่มวัยรุ่นอย่างมีนัยสําคัญทางสถิติ (p<0.05) สําหรับปัจจัยด้านเพศและด้านเคี้ยวที่ถนัด พบว่าไม่มีความสัมพันธ์กับประสิทธิภาพการบดเคี้ยวของประชากรในกลุ่มอายุเดียวกัน สรุป จากข้อมูลที่ได้ในการศึกษาครั้งนี้จึงสรุปว่า เมื่อจํานวนครั้งของการบดเคี้ยวเท่าๆ กัน ประชากรวัยผู้ใหญ่จะใช้เวลานานกว่าและมีประสิทธิภาพการบดเคี้ยวอาหารสูงกว่าประชากรวัยรุ่นอย่างมีนัยสําคัญทางสถิติ
