Objective: To investigate the effect of the use of Calcium Hydroxide (Ca(OH)2), Triple Antibiotic Paste (TAP), and Double Antibiotic Paste (DAP) as intra-canal medicaments on the development of antibiotic resistance by evaluating tetracycline genes. Methods: Forty five patients were randomly assigned into 3 groups according to the intracanal medication using a web program (www.randomizer.org), (Ca(OH)2, TAP and DAP). Root canal bacteriological samples were collected before root canal treatment (S1) and after chemo-mechanical procedures (S2). Following root canal shaping procedures, intra-canal medication of the root canals was performed with selected intra-canal medicament. A second appointment was planned for the …

Objective: To assess the area of sealer penetration into dentinal tubules in different sections ofthe root canal using a confocal laser scanning microscope after irrigation with NaOCl and followed by ultrasonicactivation. Materials and Methods: Mandibular premolars were selected according to the inclusion criteria which are:single straight root canal or slightly curved, fully developed apex with patent foramina, no obstruction in the canalsystem or indication of internal and/or external resorption or signs of crack or fracture, then the teeth were prepared, irrigated using NaOCl, activated, and then filled with Meta Biomed CeraSeal Bioceramic sealer using a single coneobturation technique. Rhodamine B was …

Objective: To use Superoxide dismutase (SOD) as a diagnostic biomarker to correlatemolecular changes in the inflammatory cascade in deep carious lesions with dental pulp exposure.Materials andMethods: A total of 40 cases with deep carious lesions with expected pulp exposure and signs of pulp vitality withoutsigns of periapical inflammation were selected from the outpatient clinic, Faculty of Dentistry, Mansoura University.Another 6 control cases were selected from the orthodontics department clinic. Results: Our results show that there is astatistically significantly lower mean percent inhibition among cases than in the control group 63.31±24.61versus94.52±2.97 (p=0.004). However, there appears to be no statistically significant difference …

Objective: To evaluate the effect of lentulospiral and ultrasonic activation on the intra-tubular AH plus sealer penetrationusing confocal laser scanning microscopy.Materials and Methods: Twenty extracted single-rooted teeth werecollected; teeth were prepared up to ProTaper finishing file F4 (size 40). Teeth were randomly divided into two maingroups (n=10 teeth) according to activation techniques. The AH plus sealer with rhodamine B was activated bylentulospiral in group 1 and Irrisafe ultrasonic tip in group 2. The root canals were obturated with a single gutta-perchacone (size F4). The roots were sectioned at 3, 6, and 9 mm levels from the apex and examined with …

Objective: This study was designed to evaluate the effect of different irrigant activation methods on post operative pain after endodontic retreatment. Materials and Methods : Seventy eight patients need non surgical retreatment in mandibular first molar were involved in the study. The retreatment was performed in two visits ,at first visit cases were randomly divided into three groups according to methods of irrigant activation after root canal retreatment with protaper next rotary Ni-TI system. Group A (n=26) Root canals were irrigated using 2.6% sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) with manual dynamic agitation using master cone Group B (n=26) Root canals were irrigated …

Objectives Evaluate the degree of postoperative pain in patients with necrotic teeth with symptomatic apical periodontitis in mandibular first molar teeth at 6, 12, 24, 48 and 72 hrs time interval after using different irrigation activation techniques in single-visit endodontic treatment.
Methods Seventy-eight patients diagnosed with necrotic mandibular first molar with symptomatic apical periodontitis were randomly allocated into 1 of 3 separate groups (n=26); Navitip group (control), EndoUltra group, or Eddy group. After a single visit root canal treatment and a specific method of agitation, depending on each group, the patients were given a questionnaire on which the patient would …

Objective
To evaluate canal centering ability by using different irrigants and cyclic fatigue resistance.
Materials and methods
Sixty-three teeth were randomly classified into three main groups according to the type of files: group 1 (n=21) M-Pro Files. Group 2 (n=21) 2Shape files. Group 3 (n=21) ProTaper Universal files (PTU). Each group was subdivided into 3 subgroups according to the type of irrigation used (Saline, NaOCl, MTAD). A total of 42 rotary files (M-pro, 2Shape, PTU) were classified into 3 main groups. Each group (n=14), then each group was subdivided into 2 subgroups (n=7). Data were analyzed using Shapiro-Wilk test. Data …
