Sfd Indications And Technique: When And How To Use Sdf To Manage Caries Lesions, Margherita Fontana Dds, Phd Mar 2023

Sfd Indications And Technique: When And How To Use Sdf To Manage Caries Lesions, Margherita Fontana Dds, Phd

The Journal of the Michigan Dental Association

The aim of this article is to review indications for 38% SDF and the appropriate technique for use. Evidence-based recommendations by the American Dental Association and umbrella reviews of systematic reviews are summarized to provide indications for SDF use in primary and permanent teeth, including sound surfaces and those with non-cavitated and cavitated caries lesions. High-quality evidence supports that SDF is an effective treatment alternative for managing active cavitated coronal and root caries lesions and preventing root caries lesions. Dentists can help by incorporating SDF as an option into their caries prevention and management armamentarium and by helping to train …

Nanoparticles In Dentistry ; A Review, Pallavi Nambiar, Priyanka Paul Madhu Mds, Amit Reche Mds, Shambhavi Subodh Moharil

International Arab Journal of Dentistry

Nanotechnology finds frequent application in everyday life, particularly in the field of medicine. Due to the capabilities of nanotechnology, examining and manipulating atoms, chemical bonds , and molecules between substances is a relatively straightforward task. When applied in the field of dentistry it is referred to as “nano dentistry”. Nanoparticles which are believed to possess superior efficacy, find significant usage in dentistry, primarily in the prevention and treatment of oral disorders, as well as the maintenance of good oral health and hygiene. Nanoparticles possess distinct characteristics such as their surface to volume ratio, antimicrobial activity, physical, mechanical and biological properties, …

Assessment Of Caries Prevalence And Related Risk Factors Among A Group Of Lebanese Children With Autism Spectrum Disorder: A Case-Control Study, Ranim Bassam Kassab Pediatric Dentist, Aly Osman, Ahmad Tarabaih

International Arab Journal of Dentistry

Objectives: The study aimed to assess dental caries prevalence and its associated risk factors for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) among different age groups.

Material and Methods: Forty-five children with autism aged between 3-16 years matched to 45 healthy children were selected. Children were recruited from autistic centers/schools in Saida, South Lebanon. Each child assessed for caries prevalence and risk factors using DMFT/dmft indices and the WHO standardized questionnaire. Student’s t-test, Pearson’s correlation test, and One-Way ANOVA followed by Tukey’s post hoc tests were used. Statistical significance was set at 95%.

Result: DMFT/dmft scores in non-ASD group were 0.85±1.53 …

Effect Of Different Caries Removal Methods On Microtensile Bond Strength Of Universal Adhesive-Affected Dentin Interface, Amira Yahia Ghonim, Huda Abed El-Haliem, Mohamed Samir Elnawawy, Ashraf Ibrahim Ali

Mansoura Journal of Dentistry

Abstract

Objectives: To investigate the effect of three caries removal methods; air abrasion, papain gel, carbide bur, and water storage on microtensile bond strength of universal adhesives to affected dentin.

Materials and methods: Two universal adhesives; glycero-phosphate dimethacrylate (GPDM) containing OptiBond universal (Kerr Medical, USA) and 10-Methacryloyloxydecyl dihydrogen phosphate (10-MDP) containing Prime&Bond universal (Dentsply Sirona, USA) were used in this study according to their manufacturers' instructions. Forty-eight carious human molars were mounted into acrylic blocks then the coronal enamel and dentin were removed exposing a flat surface of affected dentin. Teeth were divided into two groups (n=24) according to the …
