Analysis Of The Soft Tissue Chin Profile In Acceptable Aesthetic Profiles Using A 3-Dimensional Camera Facial Scan System Compared To Normative Values Based On 2-Dimensional Radiographic Analysis, Sasawat Putpinij

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Chin profile plays a critical role in determining lower facial aesthetics, significantly affects perceptions of facial balance and attractiveness. Conventional assessment methods, which primarily rely on two-dimensional cephalometric norms, are limited by projection errors and a reduced capacity to accurately evaluate soft tissue contours. The development of three-dimensional facial scanning technology has facilitated more accurate assessment of facial morphology; nevertheless, aesthetic evaluation in acceptable aesthetic profile using 3-dimensional camera facial scan remains no evidence. Hence, this study aimed to investigate soft tissue chin profiles in clinically acceptable facial aesthetics using a three-dimensional camera system, comparing with traditional two-dimensional cephalometric values. …

The Effect Of Multimedia Information About Computer-Assisted And Freehand Dental Implant Surgery On Patients’ Knowledge, Anxiety, And Decision-Making, Veerawit Lukkanasomboon

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

This study aimed to evaluate the impact of multimedia and verbal information on patients' knowledge, anxiety, and decision-making regarding dental implant surgery, focusing on comparing computer-assisted and freehand techniques. This randomized controlled trial involved 100 patients divided into two groups: one receiving multimedia information (n=50) and the other receiving verbal information (n=50). Data were collected through self-administered questionnaires assessing patients' baseline information, knowledge, anxiety, and decision-making before and after receiving information about dental implant surgery techniques. Results showed significant increases in knowledge scores for both groups, with the multimedia group improving from 1.96 to 3.90 (p<0.001) and the verbal group from 2.0 to 3.98 (p<0.001). Anxiety levels decreased significantly in both groups, with reductions from 12.76 to 11.48 (p=0.001) in the multimedia group and from 13.92 to 12.16 (p<0.001) in the verbal group. The proportion of patients who decided to proceed with dental implant surgery increased from 70% to 78% in the multimedia group and from 54% to 66% in the verbal group. After receiving the information, more patients in both groups opted for computer-assisted implant surgery, though treatment costs remained a significant concern for some, leading to declines in surgery acceptance. Despite these findings, no significant differences were observed between the multimedia and verbal groups regarding knowledge improvements, anxiety reduction, or decision-making. In conclusion, multimedia and verbal information effectively enhanced patient knowledge and reduced anxiety about dental implant surgery, and both methods may influence patients' decisions regarding their preferred implant technique, with no significant differences between the two methods.

Micro-Computed Tomography And Mechanical Test Of Bone Regeneration Using Mrna Encoding Bone Morphogenetic Protein-2 With Implant Placement In Rat Femur, Kanoksiri Jriyasetapong

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

This research evaluates the effectiveness of a modified mRNA encoding bone morphogenetic protein-2 (m1Ψ-BMP-2 mRNA) with N1-methylpseudouridine modifications on bone regeneration and integration after implantation into rat femur defects. In the study, twelve femurs from six Sprague-Dawley rats underwent titanium wire insertation. These femur defects were then filled with either 5 μg of m1Ψ-BMP-2 mRNA, 15 μg of m1Ψ-BMP-2 mRNA, or Dulbecco's phosphate-buffered saline (dPBS) in a randomized manner (N=4 each group) Six weeks post-implantation, the rats were euthanized for evaluation using micro-computed tomography and a mechanical push-out test. The Micro-CT analysis focused on several parameters including total bone volume, …

Effect Of Different Implant Angulations And Insertion-Removal Cycles On The Retentive Force Of Locator And Locator R-Tx Attachments, Jidapha Tangtrongmit

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

This study aims to assess the implant of varying angulations and insertion-removal cycles on the retentive force of 2 denture attachments. The blocks were produced via 3D printing and divided into 2 groups: the LOCATOR attachment with orange retentive inserts and the LOCATOR R-Tx attachment with pink retentive inserts. Each group was divided into 3 subgroups based on implant angulation at 0-, 15-, and 30-degree implant angulation. The insertion-removal cycles were performed in 37 ±1°C deionized water using an INSTRON E1000 machine. Retentive force tests were conducted using a universal testing machine at baseline, after 270, 540, 810, 1080, 2160, …

The Effect Of Water Sorption And Solubility On Surface Properties Of Cad/Cam Materials, Chatchalanya Wansudon Jan 2023

The Effect Of Water Sorption And Solubility On Surface Properties Of Cad/Cam Materials, Chatchalanya Wansudon

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

The objective of this research was to examine sorption, solubility, and surface properties of three widely used CAD/CAM materials: resin composite (Cerasmart; CS), polymer-infiltrated ceramic network (Vita Enamic; VE) and lithium disilicate glass ceramic (IPS e.max CAD; LS). 45 rectangular-shaped specimens were prepared and immersed in deionized water for varying durations. These specimens were then subjected to evaluate their water sorption, solubility, surface roughness, and surface hardness. The results showed that immersion time significantly impacted water sorption of the tested materials (P.05). The 2-way ANCOVA revealed that water immersions had significant effects on surface hardness among tested CAD/CAM blocks (P.05). …

The Effect Of Universal Adhesives On Repairability Of Four Cad/Cam Blocks, Tanyaporn Treyasorasai

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

This study aimed to assess the repairability among four CAD/CAM blocks repaired with different universal adhesives after aging. The CAD/CAM blocks evaluated were polymer infiltrated ceramic network (VE), zirconium-reinforced lithium silicate ceramic (VS), feldspathic ceramic (VM), and lithium disilicate ceramic (IE). Each original block was prepared to create 120 specimens. After 10,000 cycles of thermocycling, surface pretreatment of each specimen was carried out by grinding and etching with a 9% hydrofluoric acid. Subsequently, specimens were divided into three groups: Clearfil™ TRI-S BOND (CUB), Scotchbond Universal Plus® (SUP), and Monobond N® (MN). Resin composite was then applied. All samples underwent another …
