Background: Implant soft tissue dehiscence is a frequently reported esthetic complication, that more often than not affects the functional integrity of the dental implant with eventual loss of osteointegration. Objective: The present study was performed to assess the 3D alveolar ridge augmentation using the cortical shell from retromolar region and composite bone particulate regarding the width of the residual alveolar ridge. Methods: Thirteen patients with age range 21-40 years old having atrophic anterior maxillary ridge ≤3mm horizontally were included in the study. Objective

This study was designed to evaluate the retromolar as a new donor site and its ability to augment the alveolar ridge horizontal and/or vertical defects prior to implant placement.

Method

Twelve patients were selected for future implant placement after anterior maxillary ridge augmentation. CBCTs were performed preoperative, immediate postoperative and 6 months postoperative. After induction of general anesthesia, an envelope flap full mucoperiosteal flap was raised to expose the maxillary alveolar ridge defect.
