Periodontitis has recently been defined as a dysbiotic disease caused by an imbalanced oral microbiota. The transition from commensal microbial communities to periodontitis-associated ones requires colonization by specific pathogens, including Porphyromonas gingivalis. We previously reported an antagonistic relationship between Streptococcus cristatus and P. gingivalis. To determine the role of S. cristatus in altering the interactions of P. gingivalis with other oral bacteria in a complex context, we collected dental plaque samples from patients with periodontitis and assigned them to two groups based on the ratios of S. cristatus and P. gingivalis. AIM: Telemedicine has emerged as a potential solution to enhance postoperative follow-up care after dental implant surgery, offering the convenience of remote monitoring and reduced need for in-person visits.

MATERIALS AND METHODS: Participants were randomly assigned to either the telemedicine group (n = 15) or the in-person group (n = 15). In the telemedicine group, patients received remote follow-up care through virtual consultations, during which they could communicate their concerns and share images of the surgical site. Parathyroid hormone–related protein (PTHrP) is a master regulator of chondrogenesis; in the long bone epiphyseal growth plate, PTHrP expressed by resting zone chondrocytes promotes chondrocyte proliferation in the adjacent layer. Objective: To assess the root canal anatomy and root morphology of mandibular third molars (MTMs) in the Egyptians using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). Methods: A total of 338 CBCT scans of mandibular third molars (MTMs) were collected and evaluated regarding the related root(s) number and root canal configuration. Statistical analysis highlighted differences between different categories and their prevalence among genders and sides (significance level was set at p < 0.05). Data were presented as frequency and percentage values and were analyzed using a chisquare test followed by pairwise comparisons utilizing multiple Fisher’s exact tests with Bonferroni correction. The significance level was set at p < 0.05 within all tests. Results: A total of 338 MTMs [186 (55%) from male patients, 152 (45%) from female patients] from 279 patients (151 male and 128 female) were evaluated. The majority (82.84%) of the studied MTMs had two roots. single-, triple-, and quadruple-rooted MTMs were less common than double-rooted MTMs, accounting for 10.1%, 5.33%, and 1.18% of the sample, respectively. Regarding root canal anatomy, Vertucci type I was the most seen morphology (61% of all MTMs roots mostly in distal roots (42.41%), followed by Vertucci type III (13.08%). The chi-square test showed no significant difference between males and females (p=0.36) or between the right side and left sides (p=0.691) regarding the number of roots. Conclusion: Within the limitations of the present study, the findings conclude significant variability in the root and root canal anatomy of mandibular third molars (MTMs) within the Egyptian sub-population.

Aim This study evaluated the mechanical and optical properties of Zirconia-reinforced lithium disilicate (ZLS) and lithium disilicate (LS) glass ceramics after immersion in artificial saliva solutions with varying pH. Methods A total of 104 samples were fabricated from Vita Suprinity (ZLS) and IPS E.max CAD (LS). Samples were divided into test and control groups, with the test group further divided into neutral (7.2), acidic (5.8), and basic (8.3) pH subgroups.
