Blind Early Services Tennessee (BEST) is an early intervention agency that serves children ages 0-5 with visual impairments across Tennessee. BEST serves over 200 children and families across the state offering early intervention (BEST Start), parent empowerment (BEST Advocate), and family support (BEST Together) programming. The purpose of this project was to assist in the implementation of an early identification initiative (BEST Screening) using the Neonatal Assessment Visual European Grid (NAVEG). Champ's Triathlon Training Program was created to provide an adaptive fitness opportunity to the community of Nashville, TN. This program was specifically targeting children 8 to 15 years old diagnosed with Down's Syndrome and Cerebral Palsy, Gross Motor Function Classification Scale levels I, II, and III. Champ's Triathlon Training Program was an extension of the Champ's Tri My Best Triathlon hosted by a team of therapists and Vanderbilt's Pediatric Clinic, including Kelley Newman. Controlled substance abuse is a global epidemic. Several factors that influence health care providers prescribing habits have been presented in recent literature. However, the existing evidence primarily reflects the prescribing habits of physicians, while relatively little is known about the prescribing habits of nurse practitioners. The purpose of this project is to evaluate the impact of a brief web-based continuing education module targeting appropriate prescribing of controlled substances for recent graduate nurse practitioners.
