The present paper reveals morphological and anatomical characterization of the raw material of the plant Euphorbia hypericifolia L. of family Euphorbiaceae. It includes macroscopy, qualitative, quantitative microscopy and powder studies of root, stem and leaf of the plant to ensure correct botanical identity of raw material, which is used for preparation of homoeopathic drug Euphorbia hypericifolia having clinical indications for treatment of constipation and headache.

Tarentula hispanica is a known drug in Homoeopathy but it has not been used extensively. Its use has been reported in homoeopathic literature for various clinical conditions like depression, headache, hiccough, quinsy, cystitis, vertigo, otorrhoea, pyrosis, constipation, seminal emission, neuralgia of legs, cough, dyspnoea and fever. Most of these symptoms have been reconfirmed in the study conducted by Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH). Introduction: Leprosy is a disease of global concern not only because of its potential to affect large number of people and its continued transmission but also because of the occurrence of deformities In a great proportion of patients. It is also a fact that multi-drug regimen has been effective in killing Mycobacterium leprae but it has no impact on associated disability due to nerve function Impairment and trophic ulcer in leprosy. The study was undertaken to examine whether Carcinosin-200 (Car-200) could provide additional ameliorative effect, if used intermittently with Natrum sulphuricum-30 (Nat sulph-30) against hepatocarcinogenesis induced by chronic feeding of p-dimethylaminoazobenzene (p-DAB) and phenobarbital (PB) in mice (Mus musculus). Mice were randomly divided into seven sub-groups: (i) normal untreated; (ii) normal+succussed alcohol; (iii) p-DAB (0.06%) + PB (0.05%); (iv) p-DAB + PB +succussed alcohol (v) p-DAB+PB+Nat sulph-30, (vi) p-DAB+PB+Car-200, and (vii) p-DAB+PB+ Nat sulph-30+Car-200. Although in Homoeopathy different potencies of Tribulus terrestris (Ikshugandha) have been commonly prescribed in urinary affections, especially dysuria and in debilitated status of the sexual organs, no scientific experimental data has been documented to establish their safe use. Depression is a common as well as serious illness. Many people with a depressive illness never seek treatment. But the vast majority, even those with the most severe depression, can get better with treatment. Tension headache is the most common type of headache and is experienced at some time by the majority of the population in some form. Emotional strain or anxiety is a common precipitant to tension type headache and there is sometimes an underlying depressive illness. A case of tension headache with depressive disorder treated with Gelsemium is reported here.

Objective: To elicit the pathogenetic response of the drug Mimosa humilis in homoeopathic potencies on healthy human beings. Methodology: Drug Mimosa humilis was proved through double-blind placebo-controlled method. The study was conducted at 2 centers. The drug was proved in two potencies (6C and 30C) on 16 apparently healthy volunteers who were selected after pre-trial medical examination by the specialists and after doing routine pathological investigations. This paper attempts to define the historical background of curanderismo in the Casma Valley by describing the traditional healing rituals throughout the Atlantic World. Recounting, not only the history of curanderismo, religion, witchcraft, and sorcery in Latin America, but also the history of these beliefs in Europe and Africa as well. Meditation is being integrated into various fields to aid with healing, especially mindfulness meditation as it focuses on total awareness of the present. This thesis describes a self study that used a heuristic methodology to investigate the effects of mindfulness meditation on this researcher. I progressed through the six phases of heuristic research in a period seven weeks. At the beginning of the study, mindfulness meditation was practiced twice a week for a time period of 30 minutes to one hour for three weeks, followed by art making and reflections. Animal-assisted therapy (AAT) is a healing modality involving a patient, an animal therapist, and handler with a goal of achieving a specified therapeutic outcome. Despite the myriad of studies documenting the benefits of AAT, no studies have yet determined the impact of animals on alleviation of pain in children. Therefore, a quasi-experimental intervention design was used to capture the change in pain and vital signs with (n = 18) or without (n = 39) AAT in children ages 3–17 in one acute care pediatric setting. Homeopathy is considered as one modality for cancer therapy. However, there are only very few clinical reports on the activity of the drugs, as well as in experimental animals. Presently we have evaluated the inhibitory effects of potentized homeopathic preparations against N′- nitrosodiethylamine (NDEA) induced hepatocellular carcinoma in rats as well as 3- methylcholanthrene-induced sarcomas in mice. We have used Ruta, Hydrastis, Lycopodium and Thuja, which are commonly employed in homeopathy for treating cancer. Objective: To elicit the pharmacodynamic response of the drug, Cuscuta reflexa (dodder) on healthy human volunteers, in non-toxic doses. Methodology: Drug Cuscuta reflexa was proved through a double-blind method. The homoeopathic preparation of the drug was proved in three potencies (6C, 30C and 200C) on 13 volunteers who were selected and declared apparently healthy during their pre-trial medical examination by specialists and through their routine pathological investigations. Ephedra vulgaris is a lesser known drug which has been used in Homoeopathy for clinical conditions like exophthalmos (Grave′s disease) and headache which was subjected to clinical verification during the study. Screening of 4543 children between 6-18 years of age from different schools of Delhi was done during the first phase of research study under EMR project by AYUSH, for thyroid function status-clinically, serologically & ultrasonographically. Data of 4506 children has been analyzed & it has been found that goiter is prevalent at mild endemic level in children (17%) even after two decades of iodization. Significant increase in anti TPO ab positivity (6.39%) and thyroid dysfunction (11.92%) raises suspicion about the role of environmental goitrogens and prolonged iodine supplementation

Background & objectives: Acute diarrheal disease is one of the major causes of morbidity and mortality in developing countries. No data regarding the pediatric population suffering from acute diarrhea seeking homoeopathic treatment in India are available. Therefore, an observational study on acute diarrheal diseases in children was undertaken with 14 predefined trial homoeopathic medicines to arrive at a group of useful homeopathic medicines for the treatment of acute childhood diarrhea. Vitiligo, as a cosmetic problem, is a source of great embarrassment to dark skinned people. An attempt was made by the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH) to ascertain the role of homoeopathic therapy and to identify homoeopathic medicines useful in the management of Vitiligo. Here is a case from the ongoing clinical research study on vitiligo at Regional Research Institute (Homoeopathy), Puri, treated by Sulphur. The case was followed up over a period of 2 years with marked improvement in white patches which is evident from the photographs.

Attitudes Toward Psychotropic Medications Among Psychotropic Medications Among Psychiatric Outpatients And The General Population, Stephanie A. Fife

Attitudes and beliefs towards psychotropic medication were evaluated among psychiatric outpatients, patients seeking buprenorphine for substance abuse, and nonusers in a general population. The Drug Attitude Inventory scale (DAI-10) and the Beliefs about Medicines Questionnaire General (BMQ-G) were used to assess attitudes and beliefs of 49 participants. The general population had a negative attitude toward psychotropic medication and the psychiatric groups showed positive attitudes. Compliance and noncompliance were not associated with attitudes or beliefs toward psychotropic medication. Other findings include that females had less positive attitudes and beliefs towards psychotropic medication than males. The current findings expand and support research …

Objective: To elicit the pharmacodynamic response of the drug Saraca Indica on healthy human beings in non-toxic doses. Methodology: Drug Saraca Indica was proved through a double-blind method. The study was conducted at 3 centers. The Homoeopathic prepration of the drug was proved in three potencies (6C, 30C and 200C) on 42 volunteers who were selected and declared apparently healthy during their pre-trial medical examination by the specialists and through their routine pathological investigation. Alstonia constricta has been used in Homoeopathy for many conditions like debility, diarrhea, dysentery, fevers, excessive lactation, leucorrhoea, palpitation, debility of uterus, as reported in various literatures. Most of these symptoms have been reconfirmed during the study and beside these loose stool with vomiting, chronic diarrhea, intermittent fever with profuse sweating, intermittent fever with diarrhea, dry cough etc. were also relieved by the medicine additionally while treating some other conditions and thus unfolding the hidden character of the medicine in various clinical conditions during the study.
