Management Of Pilar Cyst On The Scalp With Individualised Homoeopathic Medicine: An Evidence-Based Case Report, Anindita Das, Suparja Sinha, Mihir Kanti Biswas

Introduction: Pilar cysts, also referred to as trichilemmal cysts, are benign cystic lesions that commonly occur on the scalp. Conventional management generally involves surgical excision. Homoeopathy provides an individualised, non-invasive therapeutic approach based on the totality of symptoms. Case summary: A 35-year-old female patient presented with a soft, cystic swelling on the scalp associated with itching and tenderness, clinically diagnosed as pilar cyst. Thuja occidentalis was prescribed on the basis of individualisation and a follow-up period of over twelve months showed gradual resolution of the cyst without any surgical intervention, along with improvement in general well-being. Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a prevalent endocrine disorder affecting approximately 8–12% of reproductive-aged women and is commonly associated with insulin resistance, hyperandrogenism, and metabolic dysfunction¹. Lifestyle modification remains first-line therapy; however, adherence to conventional interventions is often limited²,³. As a result, there has been growing interest in complementary approaches such as yoga, which integrates physical activity, breath control, and stress reduction⁴.

Abstract

Heart failure (HF) is one of the hallmark diseases that represent a decline of cardiovascular function. Heart failure is characterized by a decrease in the ability of the heart to pump blood throughout the body, leading to symptoms such as fatigue, dyspnea, and swelling. HF is shown to decrease quality of life and increase mortality. Traditional treatments include pharmacology, lifestyle modifications, and surgery. Among the treatments, deliberate heat exposure in the form of dry saunas has been highlighted as a potential treatment option for HF. Low back pain (LBP) is a leading cause of disability, and treatment often involves a combination of pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies. Acupuncture is a medical treatment and ideology rooted in traditional Chinese medicine that utilizes applying small needles or pressure to specific points in the body. Utilized as an adjunct to supplement standard medical care, acupuncture is a procedure that can be done in a primary care setting. Multiple studies have shown efficacy in treating acute or chronic back pain, with up to 1.5% of the US population having used acupuncture at one point.
