Healthcare Access Among Low-Income Latinx Communities: A Culturally Sensitive And Intersectional Approach, Gabriela Meza

Various factors, including immigration status, language barriers, age, and socioeconomic status, influence healthcare service utilization among the Latinx population. This study seeks to assess whether culturally sensitive care addressing intersectional factors enhances health access and outcomes in low-income Latinx communities (Purpose). The research proposes a longitudinal quasi-experimental study involving 400 Latinx participants aged 18 and above in low-income urban Los Angeles neighborhoods. A control group of 200 participants and an intervention group of 200 will be established, with the latter receiving culturally sensitive interventions when seeking care during the study. Background: Occupational therapists working in eating disorder (ED) treatment in the United States is an emerging practice area. The main objective of this study was to seek an understanding of the perceived gaps in current adult ED treatment in the United States, from both the perspectives of ED treatment providers and individuals with an ED to discover if there is a role for occupational therapists.

In the United States the American healthcare is constantly up for debate, it seems to only be aimed towards individuals who can afford insurance. Those individuals who can afford insurance must have a full-time or part time job to obtain the benefits from the employer. For those individuals who are underinsured and uninsured there could be endless reasons holding them from obtaining their own insurance, private insurance, company insurance and many others. Rita Alkhaledy grew up in Sadr City, a poor suburb of Baghdad. Her father is an Iraqi Arab and her mother was Kurdish Iranian. Her mother lived in fear that she would be cast out of Baghdad as being an outsider in Iraq was frowned upon. Her father served in the Iraqi army in the 80s and was gone a great deal, leading to a strained relationship. Their relationship was mended when her mother died from cancer.

Introduction

Cytology is integral in the assessment of urothelial cell carcinoma (UCC). However, upper urinary tract (UUT) specimens are cytologically challenging due to limited tissue and reactive atypia. At our institution UUT biopsies are processed as cell blocks (CB). We compared our institution’s reporting system (IRS) with the recently proposed Paris System for Reporting Urine Cytology (PRS) (Table 1) in UUT specimens and correlated the findings with CB and follow-up resections.
