Changes In Air Tourism To Tunisia In 2009–2018, Jan A. Wendt, Dariusz Jacek Olszewski-Strzyzowski

Baltic Journal of Health and Physical Activity

Background: The subject of this study is an analysis of the changes of tourist air traffic in Tunisia between 2009 and 2018. During this time, Tunisia saw political changes and worldwide-reported coverage of terrorist attacks on tourists (2014–2015). The aim of this study was to attempt to determine the extent to which the Tunisian Revolution and terrorist attacks have had a negative impact on the decline in the tourist traffic, and to assess the rate of return of the tourist traffic and income in this sector to the levels from before the Revolution. Material and methods: The main source of …

Patient Experience Journal

Measurement of patient-centered care is a key step to ensure quality of care improvement. The aims of this study were to evaluate the experience of hospitalized patients of Salah Azaiez Institute (SAI) of Cancer of Tunisia in 2020 and to analyze factors associated to the global satisfaction. It was a cross-sectional study. The used questionnaire was derived from the Picker patient questionnaire. Factors associated to the global satisfaction were assessed using Chi-squared and Fisher’s exact tests. The present study concerned 200 inpatients of the SAI. The Cronbach’s α of the patient experience test (PPE-15) was of 0.82 indicating a good …

Articles

Multiantimicrobial-resistant Escherichia coli isolates are a global human health problem causing increasing morbidity and mortality. Genes encoding antimicrobial resistance are mainly harbored on mobile genetic elements (MGEs) such as transposons and plasmids as well as integrons, which enhance their rapid spread. The aim of this study was to characterize 83 multiantimicrobial-resistant E. coli isolates recovered from healthy broiler chickens. Among 78 tetracycline-resistant isolates, the tetA, tetB, and tetC genes were detected in 59 (75.6%), 14 (17.9%), and one (1.2%) isolates, respectively. The sul1, sul2, and sul3 genes were detected 31 (46.2%), 16 (23.8%), and 6 (8.9%) isolates, respectively, among 67 …

Clinicopathological Characteristics And Mutational Profile Of Kras And Nras Intunisian Patients With Sporadic Colorectal Cancer, Donia Ounissi, Marwa Weslati, Rahma Boughriba, Meriam Hazgui, Saadia Bouraoui

Turkish Journal of Medical Sciences

Background/aim: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a major public health problem worldwide and in Tunisia due to its increasing rate of incidence. KRAS and NRAS mutations have become a pivotal part of CRC diagnosis, given their association to treatment resistance with antiepidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) monoclonal antibodies. In this study, we aimed to screen for mutations in KRAS and NRAS genes in Tunisian patients with CRC and explore their correlations with clinicopathological features. Materials and methods: AmoyDx KRAS and NRAS mutation real-time PCR kits were used to screen for mutations in KRAS (exon 2) and NRAS (exons 2, 3, and …

Turkish Journal of Medical Sciences

Background/aim: We investigated the association of three IL-10 promoter single-nucleotide polymorphisms and altered IL-10 plasma levels with the risk of head and neck cancer (HNC). Materials and methods: Study subjects comprised 194 HNC patients [137 nasopharyngeal cancer (NPC) and 57 laryngeal cancer (LC)], and 263 healthy controls. Genotyping of rs1800896 (-1082A>G), rs1800871 (-819C>T), and rs1800872 (-592A>C) IL-10 variants was performed by real-time PCR; IL-10 levels were measured by enzyme amplified immuno sensitivity assay (EAISA). Results: Carriage of rs1800896 A/A genotype was more frequent in the HNC and NPC cases, but was less frequent in the controls than …

Molecular Characterization Of The Nematode Heterakis Gallinarum (Ascaridida: Heterakidae) Infecting Domestic Chickens (Gallus Gallus Domesticus) In Tunisia, Nabil Amor, Sarra Farjallah, Osama Badri Mohammed, Abdulaziz Alagaili, Lilia Bahri Jan 2018

Molecular Characterization Of The Nematode Heterakis Gallinarum (Ascaridida: Heterakidae) Infecting Domestic Chickens (Gallus Gallus Domesticus) In Tunisia, Nabil Amor, Sarra Farjallah, Osama Badri Mohammed, Abdulaziz Alagaili, Lilia Bahri

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

Heterakis gallinarum is one of the most recurrently diagnosed nematodes within the gastrointestinal tract of galliform birds. In the present study, we investigated the genetic diversity of 96 H. gallinarum collected from free-range chickens from different localities in Tunisia. We assessed phylogeny and genetic variability using the internal transcribed spacers (ITS) of the nuclear ribosomal DNA and the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I gene. Haplotype and nucleotide diversities indicate that H. gallinarum is a species with extremely low genetic diversity. Based on the networks and phylogenetic trees, there was strong support for the absence of significant geographical structuring among …

Turkish Journal of Medical Sciences

Background/aim: We evaluated the association of TLR2 (-196 to -174 Ins/Del) and TLR3 (1377 C>T) as potential risk factors for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) in Tunisians. Material and methods: The study subjects comprised 137 NPC patients and 164 cancer-free control subjects. TLR2 genotyping was done by PCR and TLR3 genotyping was performed by PCR-RFLP. Results: Minor allele frequency (MAF) and genotypes of TLR3 (1377 C>T) were comparable between NPC patients and controls. Significantly higher MAF and TLR2-containing Del allele genotypes of TLR2 (-196 to -174 Ins/Del) were seen in NPC patients compared to controls [OR (95% CI) = 2.10 …

Le Travail Des Femmes Dans Le Secteur Agricole: Entre Précarité Et Empowerment—Cas De Trois Régions En Egypte, Au Maroc Et En Tunisie, Zhour Bouzidi, Saker El Nour, Wided Moumen

Poverty, Gender, and Youth

Despite a remarkable decline in the agricultural labor force in general, the number of women employed in the agricultural sector is growing substantially, particularly as a result of the intensification of agricultural activity. This Population Council working paper focuses on the working conditions of women in the agricultural sector based on the analysis of three case studies in three countries: the West of Delta in Egypt, the coastal zone of Gharb in Morocco, and the Nadhour region in Tunisia. The report analyzes to what extent agricultural work could be a means of precariousness or empowerment for women workers. Results show …

Reproductive Health

This paper offers a broad definition of quality of care and presents a comprehensive conceptual framework for the assessment of quality of reproductive health services and methodological approaches for its measurement. It presents three studies that were conducted between 1990 and 1991 by members of the regional Reproductive Health Working Group from Egypt, Jordan, and Tunisia. The studies provide examples of applications of the framework and its measurement using multiple data sources. Selected findings are presented to illustrate comparative results between countries. Based on the lessons learned from the studies, examples of reproductive health interventions that may improve the quality …
