Mindfulness based interventions (MBI) reduce the severity of anxiety and depression among a variety of populations. While the psychological benefits of MBIs are increasingly recognized, less is known about the underlying neural correlates—particularly during childhood and adolescence, a time when many psychopathologies begin to emerge. Here, we provide the first systematic review on the neural correlates of MBI in youth. We reviewed the PubMed database for original articles examining the neural correlates of MBI in youth (0-18 years) leveraging neuroimaging. The search yielded 331 studies, of which 13 were included in the review. These studies comprised 451 participants and were …

Physical Activity Promotion, Assessment, And Engagement In Clinical Settings In The United States, Kristin A. Grogg
Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports
Physical inactivity is an important contributor to morbidity and all-cause mortality and the 2018 Physical Activity Guidelines Advisory Committee recommended that physicians increase their role in physical activity assessment and promotion to combat physical inactivity and related comorbidities. Healthcare providers are increasingly called upon to initiate physical activity promotion with their patients to manage conditions like obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases. Still, recent reports indicate that less than half of primary care visits include some type of physical activity promotion. Although the National Physical Activity Plan includes some recommendations for clinicians and the healthcare sector on physical activity promotion, it …

School of Nursing & Midwifery, East Africa
While the uptake of antiretroviral drugs has rapidly expanded among adolescents and adults living with HIV, research evidence suggests that people living with HIV have a higher risk of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). With more than 35% of the global burden of NCDs stemming from adolescence, there is a need to comprehend the existing evidence on early prevention, detection, and disease management, especially among the at-risk population. In line with the WHO Global Action Plan, 2013–2020 and “Best Buys”, recommendations on practical interventions for NCDs prevention, this systematic review seeks to synthesise evidence on the current interventions for preventing NCDs among …

Benefits Of Using An Electronic-Medical-Record In The Emergency Department: A Systematic Review, Eduardo Paguntalan Monroy
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
AbstractLow quality of care is a problem for many United States (U.S.) emergency departments (E.D.). The use of electronic medical records (EMR) with quick embedded tools, treatment plans, and protocols decrease E.D. overcrowding, reduce boarding time, to approximate the 4- hour recommendation by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, and improve quality of care. The project question asked whether a systematic review of EMRs with quick embedded tools, treatment plans, and protocols decreased overcrowding and boarding time, and improved E.D. quality care. This systematic review used the Johns Hopkins Model to answer the project question by guiding selection, …
