OBJECTIVES: To report the safety and side effects associated with taking verapamil for beta-cell preservation in children with newly-diagnosed T1D.

RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS: Eighty-eight participants aged 8.5 to 17.9 years weighing ≥ 30 kg were randomly assigned to verapamil (N = 47) or placebo (N = 41) within 31 days of T1D diagnosis and followed for 12 months from diagnosis, main CLVer study. Drug dosing was weight-based with incremental increases to full dosage. Side effect monitoring included serial measurements of pulse, blood pressure, liver enzymes, and electrocardiograms (ECGs). Background: It has been determined that both confidence and cognition impact driving performance and self-regulation. While it is known that cognitive decline impacts driving safety and that decreases in driving confidence can lead to self-driving regulation, further research is needed to determine whether cognition, demographics, and driving routines are associated with driving confidence.

Method: A non-experimental, cross-sectional design study using a convenience sample of 100 older adults was conducted to determine if individual factors are related to daytime and nighttime driving confidence.

METHODS: An anchored matching-adjusted indirect comparison analysis was conducted using pooled participant-level data from two phase 3 atogepant trials (ADVANCE and PROGRESS) and one phase 2/3 rimegepant trial (BHV3000-305) to evaluate the relative efficacy and safety/tolerability of atogepant and rimegepant as preventive migraine treatments. A Bacille Calmette–Guérin (BCG) is still the only licensed vaccine for the prevention of tuberculosis, providing limited protection against Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection in adulthood. New advances in the delivery of DNA vaccines by electroporation have been made in the past decade. We evaluated the safety and immunogenicity of the DNA-hsp65 vaccine administered by intramuscular electroporation (EP) in cynomolgus macaques. Animals received three doses of DNA-hsp65 at 30-day intervals. We demonstrated that intramuscular electroporated DNA-hsp65 vaccine immunization of cynomolgus macaques was safe, and there were no vaccine-related effects on hematological, renal, or hepatic profiles, compared to the pre-vaccination parameters. Background: Ciltacabtagene autoleucel (cilta-cel) and idecabtagene vicleucel (ide-cel) are chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapies used to treat adult patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma (rrMM) after at least four lines of therapy. However, no head-to-head clinical trials to compare them have been conducted.

Objective: To compare between CARTITUDE-1 and KarMMa clinical trials in terms of efficacy, safety, and patient characteristics.

Method: Overall response rate (ORR) and safety signals were compared using reporting odds ratios (RORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) at p < 0.05. Overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) were compared using the Kaplan–Meier method with a log-rank test. Patient characteristics were compared using the chi-square test. Statistical analyses were conducted using Microsoft Excel and R version 4.0.5.

Background: Medication reconciliation is the process of creating the most accurate list of medications a patient is taking and comparing it against the physician’s admission, and discharge orders. It is an effective intervention to prevent drug-related events which are the leading cause of medical errors.
