Orofacial Pigmentation In Hemodialysis Patients: A Case Control Study, Asmaa Ras, Eman Khalil, Radwa Hussein, Nevine Kheir El Din

Dentistry

ABSTRACT Introduction: Orofacial pigmented lesions are one of the most significant changes that present in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD), reflecting a wide range of clinical entities ranging from physiologic changes to signs of systemic disorders and even cancers. The research on oral pigmentations is limited, so it is important to pay close attention to this topic. The majority of original publications is either focused on a single lesion or are narrative reports with limited demographic information. As a result, the current study’s goal was to determine the incidence of orofacial pigmentation in ESRD patients on hemodialysis in a …

Egypt’S Pediatric Oncology Hospital 57357: A Case Study Analysis, Ashley A. Clegg

Honors Theses

Hospital 57357 is the foremost pediatric oncology hospital in Egypt and provides treatment free of charge to children with cancer. Since its establishment in 2007, the hospital has grown to a capacity of 380 patient beds across three locations. Its quest for continuous improvement led to the development of a new performance management system emphasizing the tracking and measurement of a multitude of Key Performance Indicators across all departments. While this new system enables objective and perpetual monitoring of key patient care metrics, its integration into the existing structure introduces challenges that must be addressed. The Case For Shifting Clinical Dentistry Toward Regenerative Biological Treatment Using Stem Cells: A Life-Changing Impact On The Profession’S Future, Merna Gress Aug 2021

The Case For Shifting Clinical Dentistry Toward Regenerative Biological Treatment Using Stem Cells: A Life-Changing Impact On The Profession’S Future, Merna Gress

English Language Institute

The conventional current procedures targeting the periodontal treatment for the diseased teeth and gums are based on arresting the destruction of these supporting structures and limiting the number of bacteria present. However, an ideal treatment would be regenerative in nature and should be accompanied with the reconstruction of these periodontal tissues back to normal. The application of Regenerative Dentistry is achieved through using the concept of cell and molecular biology to empower dental treatments that target a repair process for oral tissues instead of utilizing synthetic materials. One of the main applications of this concept is adult tissue-derived Mesenchymal Stem …

Molecular Characterization Of Equine Herpesvirus-1 And Asinine Herpesvirus -5 Isolated From Aborted Fetuses Of Arabian Horses, Rabab Taha Hassanien, Ehab Mostafa El-Nahas, Nahed Ahmed Mahmoud, Gabr Fikry El-Bagoury Sep 2020

Molecular Characterization Of Equine Herpesvirus-1 And Asinine Herpesvirus -5 Isolated From Aborted Fetuses Of Arabian Horses, Rabab Taha Hassanien, Ehab Mostafa El-Nahas, Nahed Ahmed Mahmoud, Gabr Fikry El-Bagoury

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

Infections with equine herpesviruses(EHVs) are widespread in equine populations worldwide. Whilst EHV-1 produces well-documented reproductive losses in equids, the role of asinineherpesviruses-5 (AHV-5) to induce abortion is still enigmatic. In the present study, EHV-1 and AHV-5 were detected in aborted fetuses of Arabian horses in Egypt by consensus nested PCR of DNA polymerase gene, with a trial for viral isolation on Rabbit Kidney 13 cell line (RK-13) and identification by indirect immunofluorescence. The partial analysis of DNA polymerase gene sequence revealed that the Egyptian strains EHV-1 and AHV-5 were related to Australian origin EHV-1 838/89 (Accession. no, KF434370) and Austrian …

Female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C) continues to be a widespread practice in Egypt. According to the 2014 Egypt Demographic and Health Survey, the prevalence of FGM/C was 92 percent among ever-married women aged 15–49. However, Egypt continues to witness a drastic surge in the medicalization of FGM/C, with 74 percent of women aged 19 years and younger circumcised by medical practitioners, compared to 55 percent in 1995. This policy brief provides key results and recommendations of four studies conducted by the Population Council/ Egypt under the Evidence to End FGM/C project, in coordination with Egypt’s National Population Council. After years of steady decline, Egypt experienced an increase in the total fertility rate (TFR) from 3.0 births per woman in 2008 to 3.5 in 2014, which was coupled with an increase in desired family size among young people. To better understand this increase in fertility as well as prospects for change, the Evidence Project/Population Council conducted secondary analyses of quantitative data from the Egypt Demographic and Health Survey (EDHS) and the Survey of Young People in Egypt (SYPE) and collected qualitative data from young people and key informants. This report examines the changes in fertility preferences and behaviors among …

Understanding Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting Abandonment In Egypt, Nada Wahba, Hania El Banhawi, Amira El Ayouti

Reproductive Health

Although the prevalence of female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C) in Egypt among married women aged 15–49 years is high (92 percent), in the most recent (2014) Demographic and Health Survey, prevalence rates appear to be declining among younger cohorts of girls and women. Support for the discontinuation of the practice is more widespread in younger generations, among females, and among those living in urban areas. Variations in attitudes toward FGM/C by education level and wealth status are also documented. While numerous studies have examined the reasons why people practice FGM/C, few studies have examined the characteristics of the individuals who have …

The older population in Egypt needs a special healthcare system to fulfill its needs and expectations. Nowadays, the older people live longer than before due to the improvement of healthcare services. Urbanization and the change in the Egyptian demographics is exacerbating the problem. Egypt now is becoming a nation of dignified older citizens that need additional care and special attention. A number of policies and reforms have already been discussed but never thoroughly analyzed. Some policies …
