The nurse anesthetist plays a crucial role in the healthcare system. Through intensive training, they provide safe and effective anesthesia care to patients across various healthcare settings. Currently, the nurse anesthesia field lacks diversity, with underrepresentation of minority groups such as Black, Hispanic, and Indigenous individuals. The United States Census revealed that there are more than 325 million residents. Yet only 10.9% of nurse anesthetists are of diverse racial backgrounds. PURPOSE: The graduate medical education community implemented virtual residency interviews in response to travel restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic, and this approach has persisted. Although many residency applicants wish to visit in-person prospective training sites, such opportunities could bias programs toward those who are able to meet this financial burden, exacerbating equity concerns. One proposed solution is to offer applicants the opportunity to visit only after a program's rank list is "locked," avoiding favoritism to applicants who visit, but allowing applicants to experience some of the camaraderie, geography, and local effects of an in-person visit. Background: The underrepresentation of high-risk minority groups in clinical trials remains a crisis in American healthcare. Despite pressures from the NIH to increase Black-American participation in trials, recruitment and retention in this group rarely match population demographics. Our company launched an opinion survey polling 260 Blacks regarding their thoughts and awareness about clinical trial participation.

Methods: We created a web-based survey consisting of 38 items and subdivided it into three main sections: (1) cultural affinity, (2) trust, and (3) background information. Filipino-Americans and their health care data seem to be difficult to find individually, and this is due to the continual grouping of this population with other Asian subgroups into the Asian-American population. The needs of the Filipino-American population are distinctly different from other Asian-American subgroups, and the underrepresentation leads to inadequate health care, lack of education within the community, and in some cases, disproportional deaths of Filipino-Americans.

Introduction: Minority tax is defined as the burden of time and resources placed on minority persons to represent and advocate for their communities. We determined whether medical students underrepresented in medicine (URM) or from historically excluded (HE) populations experience a minority tax and characterized its effects.

Methods: This cross-sectional survey of US medical students occurred November 2020 - June 2021. We used Mann-Whitney U tests to compare metrics between URM and HE participants and their peers. Extension educators sometimes struggle with how best to engage communities that are not “traditional” program audiences. College students with chronic pain often experience difficulty engaging in social activities both on and off campus due to stigma, misconceptions, or social exclusions (Culp & Rojas-Guyler, 2014). To fully understand the barriers to social engagement, the researchers used a qualitative phenomenological approach and semi-structured interviews to explore the lived experiences of 15 college students with chronic pain (pain lasting more than six months). The purpose of this study is to assess nurses’ perceptions on the relationship between low socioeconomic status and high mortality rates of children due to motor vehicle accidents(MVAs). MVAs are the leading cause of death among children four years and older. Studies reviewed in this paper support that low socioeconomic status is associated with high child mortality rates caused by motor vehicle accidents.
