Dental Morphometric Investigation On The Chinchilla (Chinchilla Lanigera) Using A Threedimensionalreconstruction Model, Sema Özkadi̇f, Emrullah Eken, Ayşe Haligür

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The aim of this study was to reveal the morphometric characteristics of the teeth of the chinchilla (Chinchilla lanigera), which are both kept as pet animals and raised for the economic value of their fur, using three-dimensional (3D) reconstructions created from two-dimensional (2D) multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) images and to investigate whether there was a difference between the sexes. A total of 12 chinchillas of both sexes (six males and six females) were used. The teeth reconstructions of the animals were performed with Mimics. 14.1 3D modeling software on the 2D images was taken in the prone position. According to …

Salmonella Infection In A Chinchilla Farm, Deni̇z Misirlioğlu, Cengi̇z Çeti̇n, M. Müfi̇t Kahraman, Vi̇ldan Caner, M. Özgür Özyi̇ği̇t

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

This study describes a salmonella infection in a chinchilla farm of 40 families in the Yalova region. Twenty-four families were affected in a 10-day period after the outbreak of the disease and the clinical signs were apathy, anorexia, diarrhoea with or without hemorrhage, tremors, local paralysis, mucopurulent or hemorrhagic vaginal secretion in some females, abortions in 1 to 2 month-pregnant animals and death. The newborn and pregnant animals were affected more severely. Two live chinchillas with clinical signs were euthanized and gross pathological, histopathological and microbiological examinations were performed. In the gross and microscopical examinations, the most severe lesions were …

Time Dependent Changes In The Cristaneuroepithelium Resulting From Gentamicinototoxicity In The Chinchilla, Hasan Tanyeri̇, Ivan Lopez, Larry Hoffman Jan 1999

Time Dependent Changes In The Cristaneuroepithelium Resulting From Gentamicinototoxicity In The Chinchilla, Hasan Tanyeri̇, Ivan Lopez, Larry Hoffman

Turkish Journal of Medical Sciences

This experiment was conducted to investigate the time-dependent effects of gentamicin (GM) on the neuroepithelial morphology of the posterior crista ampullares (PCA) of the adult chinchilla. The time course of GM-induced HC pathology was documented through measurements of HC density as well as through HC morphologic evaluation. HC morphology was examined under light microscopy and HC density measurements were documented as a function of the time course of GM-induced ototoxicity. Six groups of animals (n=12) were treated with daily injections of 30 mg/kg of GM subcutaneously (SC) for six days and were sacrificed 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 8 …

Dose Dependent Changes In The Cristaneuroepitheium Resulting From Gentamicinototoxicity In The Chinchilla, Hasan Tanyeri̇, Ivan Lopez, Larry Hoffman

Turkish Journal of Medical Sciences

This experiment was conducted to investigate the dose-dependent effects of gentamicin (GM) on the neuroepithelial morphology of the posterior crista ampullares (PCA) of the adult chinchilla. The experiment focused on hair cell (HC) morphology to monitor GM's dose-dependent effects and also to define an ototoxically-efficient and safe dose what would subsequently be used in a time course study. Chinchillas (n=13) were treated with subcutaneous (SC) daily doses of 120 mg/kg, 60 mg/kg, and 30 mg/kg GM, respectively, for six days. Light microscopy observations were made from the excised PCA of two animals from each group that survided the complete treatment …
