In September 2016, Nicole Ludwig led a group of her neighbors in Germany to assist newly-arrived Syrian and Afghani refugees. The volunteers collected clothing and toys, organized activities and field trips for the refugee children, and taught them German. Later, the volunteers offered homework support and led library reading groups. For the adult refugees, the volunteers provided cultural assimilation instruction and cooking classes. ● Few studies measure reflexive attention as a component of day-to-day attention in children

● Parents also have valuable insight into children’s behavior

● We want to identify associations between computer-based reflexive attention task performance and parent-rated attention-related problems.

Background and Purpose: The shoulder is the most commonly dislocated joint in the body. This paper provides age-appropriate recommendations for post-reduction management of anterior shoulder dislocations. Methods: Literature was reviewed, limited to English language in the last five years. Appropriate articles were rated using the Levels of Evidence tool found in the Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma. Conclusion: We recommend aggressive treatment in younger patients, and increased screening for concomitant injuries in older patients. Implications for Practice: Age should be an important consideration when formulating a plan of care for the patient with shoulder dislocation.

Each year approximately 1,000,000 child become the victims of abuse or neglect. The detrimental effects of child maltreatment (CM) have been well documented and create significant problems for the survivors and for society as well. All fifty states have enacted mandatory reporting laws to combat the CM epidemic. As mandated reporters, nurse practitioners and nurse midwives (APRNs) have the opportunity and responsibilities to identify and refer potential victims of CM, in this study a significant percentage choose not to report their suspicions.
