The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

Open farming systems with low biosecurity conditions are very common in developing countries. In the context that many countries in the world have issued regulations prohibiting the use of antibiotics for disease prevention, finding effective alternatives becomes more important, especially for farms with low biosecurity. This study aimed to explore the effects of a Saccharomyces cerevisiae fermentation-derived postbiotics (SCFP) on growth performance and intestinal health of crossbred broiler chickens raised in a low bio-security production system. One hundred ninety-two 1-day-old chickens were assigned to 2 treatments. Dietary treatments were: 1) a standard basal diet and 2) a standard basal diet …

Rbm39 Contributes To Mgmt Maintenance In Response To Temozolomide-Induced Dna Damage, Vahid Khalaj, Jack T Adams, Solmaz Aghaamiri, Servando Hernandez Vargas, Tyler M Bateman, Sukhen C Ghosh, Majid Momeny, Ali Azhdarinia

The Brown Foundation: Institute of Molecular Medicine

Resistance to alkylating chemotherapeutic agents such as temozolomide (TMZ) is a significant challenge in treating tumors with high MGMT expression, including MGMT-positive glioblastoma and neuroendocrine neoplasms. In this study, we investigated the effect of RNA-binding motif protein 39 (RBM39) downregulation on MGMT protein levels, based on prior observations suggesting an association between these two proteins. Pharmacological depletion or siRNA-mediated knockdown of RBM39 led to a marked reduction in MGMT protein levels in MGMT-expressing cancer cells. We further showed that dual targeting of RBM39 (using indisulam) and MGMT (with O6-benzylguanine) synergistically enhanced MGMT depletion. Functionally, combined indisulam and TMZ treatment significantly …

Environmental Modulation Of Jak3-Mediated Immune Dysregulation In Alopecia Areata, Rylee Davis Nov 2025

Environmental Modulation Of Jak3-Mediated Immune Dysregulation In Alopecia Areata, Rylee Davis

Sustainability Conference

Alopecia areata (AA) is an autoimmune disorder characterized by non-scarring hair loss resulting from T-cell–driven destruction of hair follicles. Central to this process is the dysregulation of Janus kinase 3 (JAK3), a non-receptor tyrosine kinase selectively expressed in hematopoietic cells that mediates γc cytokine receptor signaling. Aberrant JAK3 activity disrupts follicular immune privilege and amplifies pro-inflammatory cytokine cascades, sustaining a chronic autoimmune state. While genetic susceptibility contributes to JAK3 overactivation, converging evidence highlights a pivotal role for environmental exposures in modulating its expression and signaling dynamics. In this framework, we focus on urban air pollutants like particularly fine particulate matter, …
