OBJECTIVES: Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is a key biomedical intervention for ending the HIV epidemic in the United States, but its uptake is impeded by systemic barriers, including fragmented workflows and ineffective data coordination. This study aims to design PrEPLinker, a blockchain-based, client-centered platform to enhance care to address these challenges by improving care coordination and enabling clients to securely manage their identity and PrEP-related data.

INTRODUCTION: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a common disorder of the elderly that is both highly heritable and genetically heterogeneous.

METHODS: We investigated the association of AD with both common variants and aggregates of rare coding and non-coding variants in 13,371 individuals of diverse ancestry with whole genome sequencing (WGS) data.

RESULTS: Pooled-population analyses of all individuals identified genetic variants at apolipoprotein E (APOE) and BIN1 associated with AD (p < 5 × 10

Objective: This article aimed to provide a treatment classification system and counseling recommendations. Recommendations: Topical corticosteroids are appropriate for initial treatment due to their ease of use and safety. Topical minoxidil and dithranol are often used as adjunctive treatments based on mixed data. While CPAP continues to be the gold standard of OSA care, challenges with adherence and limited access to effective weight management strategies often impede care. Improved understanding of mosquito–plant feeding interactions can reveal insights into the ecological dynamics of pathogen transmission. In wild malaria vectors Anopheles gambiae s.l. and An. funestus group surveyed in selected dryland ecosystems of Kenya, we found a low level of plant feeding (2.8%) using biochemical cold anthrone test but uncovered 14-fold (41%) higher rate via DNA barcoding targeting the chloroplast rbcL gene. Plasmodium falciparum positivity was associated with either reduced or increased total sugar levels and varied by mosquito species. Gut analysis revealed the mosquitoes to frequently feed on acacia plants (~ 89%) (mainly Vachellia tortilis) in the family Fabaceae. …

PURPOSE: High-dose methotrexate (HDMTX) therapy is an important component in treatment regimens for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Courses are associated with a risk of renal injury, delayed elimination, and increased systemic toxicity. Recently hypoalbuminemia has been recognized as yet another risk factor.

METHODS: To examine the impact of serum albumin we reviewed 325 HDMTX 5 g/m2 courses in a cohort of 51 children treated on the NOPHO ALL 2008 protocol, dividing the courses into four groups with different levels of baseline albumin (A < 25 g/L, B 25-29 g/L, C 30-34 g/L and D ≥ 35 g/L).

Infants less than 1 year old diagnosed with KMT2A-rearranged (KMT2A-r) acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) are at high risk of failure to achieve remission, relapse, and death due to leukemia, despite intensive therapies. Infant KMT2A-r ALL blasts are characterized by DNA hypermethylation. Epigenetic priming with DNA methyltransferase inhibitors increases the cytotoxicity of chemotherapy in preclinical studies. The Children's Oncology Group trial AALL15P1 tested the safety and tolerability of 5 days of azacitidine treatment immediately prior to the start of chemotherapy on day 6, in four post-induction chemotherapy courses for infants with newly diagnosed KMT2A-r ALL. Suicidal thoughts and behaviors among adolescents are critical public health concerns in the United States, with suicide being the third leading cause of death among high school-aged youths (14-18 years). This study replicates and extends the findings of the 2021 Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) conducted by Gaylor et al., which analyzed data from 13,677 students in 2019 and 17,232 students in 2021. The original study revealed alarming increases in suicidal ideation and behaviors, particularly among female students, and highlighted disparities across demographic groups. This proposal uses secondary data from the research project, Moving Evidence-Based Recommendations to Practice to Strengthen the Health Care System in Nebraska. The Association Between Systolic Blood Pressure And Coronary Heart Disease In The Framingham Heart Study: A Long-Term Prospective Cohort Study, Alexandrea M. Welch

Coronary heart disease (CHD) is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, with systolic blood pressure (SBP) as a critical risk factor. This study utilized data from the Framingham Heart Study to assess the association between SBP and CHD among participants. Univariate, bivariate, and multivariable logistic regression was used to explore this association as well as the association with other key covariates. We found a significant positive association between elevated SBP and the risk of CHD (adjusted OR: 1.69, 95% CI: 1.41-2.01, p < 0.0001). Age, sex, current blood pressure medication use, and body mass index (BMI) were significantly associated with CHD. Our findings support the need for blood pressure management to prevent cardiac events and reduce CHD burden.

Objectives: This study investigates the relationship between current cigarette smoking at baseline and the occurrence of angina pectoris during follow-up among middle-aged adults (30-70 years), adjusting for age, sex, BMI, diabetes status, education, and number of cigarettes smoked per day.

Methods: Using the Framingham Heart Study cohort (N=4,434), logistic regression analyses were performed. A backward selection approach identified confounders and explored effect modification.

Objective To investigate the association between total cholesterol level and the odds of experiencing angina in women over the age of 40.

Methods This retrospective cohort study was conducted using a subset of the cohort from the Framingham Heart Study to create a multivariable logistic regression model for analysis. Out of the 4,434 participants in the Framingham cohort, 2,148 participants were women over the age of 40 and included in this study.

To determine if current smoking status is a risk factor for angina among women under the age of 65.

Methods:

A subset of participants from the Framingham Heart Studywere used to complete a cohort study. The analyses evaluated population means and characteristics, followed by bivariate and multivariable logistic regression, to determine the association of smoking and other key factors with angina.

My capstone was conducted at the Hanford site in Richland, Washington. It was once a location that produced weapons-grade plutonium, but now its mission is to clean up the radioactive waste that was left behind. My project focused on beryllium and how much is present in the 56 million gallons of waste that needs to be disposed of. I evaluated the OSHA regulations for beryllium work areas, medical surveillance, and beryllium exposure's environmental and health implications. The purpose was to determine if the concentrations present meet the requirements to continue to be considered a beryllium work area.

Methods: A cohort of 4,434 participants aged 32–70 years, free of CHD at baseline, was analyzed.
