FMRP is an RNA-binding protein that represses the translation of specific mRNAs. In neurons, its depletion determines the exaggerated translation of mRNAs leading to dendritic and axonal aberrant development, two peculiar features of Fragile X syndrome patients. However, how FMRP binds to translational machinery to regulate the translation of its mRNA targets is not yet fully understood. Here, we show that FMRP localizes on translational machinery by interacting with the ribosomal binding protein, Receptor for Activated C Kinase 1 (RACK1). The binding of FMRP to RACK1 removes the translational repressive activity of FMRP and promotes the translation of PSD-95 mRNA, …

Effect Of Orthodontics On Upper Airway. Series 1: Growth And Development Of Airway, Kuang-Hsuan Chang, Eddie Hsiang-Hua Lai, Kang-Yee Wang, Hui-Jen Tsai, Chih-Liang Julian Ho Aug 2022

Effect Of Orthodontics On Upper Airway. Series 1: Growth And Development Of Airway, Kuang-Hsuan Chang, Eddie Hsiang-Hua Lai, Kang-Yee Wang, Hui-Jen Tsai, Chih-Liang Julian Ho

Taiwanese Journal of Orthodontics

Comprehensive treatment of the facial skeleton and occlusion requires an understanding of all functional variables, including the upper airway. Numerous reports have shown a causal relationship between the upper airway and respiratory mode in the development of facial morphology and malocclusion. This article reviewed the airway assessment in normal subjects during growth and development, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) subjects and malocclusion subjects.

In low- and middle-income countries (LMIC), growth impairment is common; however, the trajectory of growth over the course of the first month has not been well characterised. To describe newborn growth trajectory and predictors of growth impairment, we assessed growth frequently over the first 30 days among infants born ≥2000 g in Guinea-Bissau, Nepal, Pakistan and Uganda. In this cohort of 741 infants, the mean birth weight was 3036 ± 424 g. For 721 (98%) infants, weight loss occurred for a median of 2 days (interquartile range, 1-4) following birth until weight nadir was reached 5.9 ± 4.3% below birth …

Effects Of Dietary Insect (Ephestia Kuehniella) Egg Meal On Growth Performance And Fattyacid Profile Of Common Carp (Cyprinus Carpio), Levent Doğankaya

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The effects of mill moth (Ephestia kuehniella) egg meal (IEM) upon growth performance and fatty acid profile of common carp (Cyprinus carpio) (1.12 ± 0.01 g) were evaluated in triplicate groups for 12 weeks. Three isonitrogenous (35% CP) and isocaloric (17 MJ kg?1) diets were formulated replacing fishmeal with 0% (G-0), 50% (G-50), and 100% (G-100) IEM. The results of the trial indicated that G-50 had the highest growth performance values and a more efficient FCR (1.79). Replacement levels of IEM did not have any significant effect on survival. Total monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) were found to be statistically different …

Evaluation Of Genotype And Nongenetic Effects On Some Production Traits: Comparison Of Akkaraman And Bafra × Akkaraman B1 Sheep Genotypes, Ömer Faruk Güngör, Ceyhan Özbeyaz, Necmetti̇n Ünal, Hi̇lal Çapar Akyüz, Rabi̇a Arslan, Hali̇l Akçapinar Jan 2022

Evaluation Of Genotype And Nongenetic Effects On Some Production Traits: Comparison Of Akkaraman And Bafra × Akkaraman B1 Sheep Genotypes, Ömer Faruk Güngör, Ceyhan Özbeyaz, Necmetti̇n Ünal, Hi̇lal Çapar Akyüz, Rabi̇a Arslan, Hali̇l Akçapinar

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The purposes of this study were to evaluate genotype and some environmental effects on the reproductive and milk yield traits of sheep, and vitality and growth traits of lambs, and to compare the difference between Akkaraman (AKK) and Bafra × AKK B1 (BA B1: Bafra sires crossed BA F1 ewes) genotypes in terms of these characters. Data were collected from 71 ewes for fertility traits and 37 ewes for milk yields in each genotype. Growth traits and survival rates of lambs were evaluated using 55 AKK and 56 BA B1 lambs. AKK and BA B …

Rationale Severe fetal malnutrition has been related to an increased risk of respiratory diseases later in life, but evidence for the association of a suboptimal diet during pregnancy with respiratory outcomes in childhood is conflicting. We aimed to examine whether a pro-inflammatory or low-quality maternal diet during pregnancy was associated with child's respiratory health.

Methods We performed an individual participant meta-analysis among 18 326 mother–child pairs from seven European birth cohorts. Maternal pro-inflammatory and low-quality diets were estimated by energy-adjusted Dietary Inflammatory Index (E-DII) and Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) scores. Preschool wheezing and school-age asthma were measured using …
