Surgical Management For Drug-Resistant Epilepsy In Medial Temporal Lobe Lesions (Al-Azhar Experience), Alaa Ibrahim, Mohamed Rashad
Al-Azhar International Medical Journal
Background: The most common cause of drug resistant epilepsy is the temporal lobe seizures especially that caused by medial temporal lobe epileptogenic lesions. OBJECTIVE: To assess the clinical outcome of medial temporal lobe lesionectomy (without amygdalo-hippocampectomy) in control of seizures in a group of drug resistant epileptic patients. Material and methods: This study was conducted on 12 patients (8 males) presented to al-azhar university hospitals between October, 2018 and December, 2020 with drug resistant -temporal lobe- epilepsy due to medial temporal lobe lesions of different pathological natures not affecting the hippocampus, the lesions were surgically excised and had been followed …
Comparative Study Between Primary Common Bile Duct Repair With Internal Stent Insertion Versus T-Tube Drainage After Common Bile Duct Exploration, Ahmed Abd El Wahab, Mohammed Tawila, Osama Khalil
Comparative Study Between Primary Common Bile Duct Repair With Internal Stent Insertion Versus T-Tube Drainage After Common Bile Duct Exploration, Ahmed Abd El Wahab, Mohammed Tawila, Osama Khalil
Al-Azhar International Medical Journal
ABSTRACT Background: CBD stones are present in about 10–18% of cholelithiasis patients who have their cholecystectomy. Cholecystectomy combined with CBD exploration could be used to treat CBD stones. The primary repair with stent insertion has been shown to be effective in preventing T-tube complications. Aim and objectives: The current research aimed to analyze the surgical CBD exploration with primary closure of CBD with Biliary Stent (BS) vs. T-tube drainage, with assessment outcomes of this procedure. Patients and Methods: It was a prospective study involving 20 patients who complained of jaundice caused by irreversible common bile duct stones (CBDSs) after ERCP …
Laparoscopic Repair Of Perforated Duodenal Ulcer: A Comparison With The Open Surgical Technique, Ahmed Abdul Latif, Magdy Mahmoud, Osama Al-Mezaien
Laparoscopic Repair Of Perforated Duodenal Ulcer: A Comparison With The Open Surgical Technique, Ahmed Abdul Latif, Magdy Mahmoud, Osama Al-Mezaien
Al-Azhar International Medical Journal
Background: One of the most prevalent disorders seen in patients who present to the emergency rooms with severe abdominal pains is duodenal ulcer perforation. Accurate diagnosis and immediate repair should be done as early as possible. Surgical repair using Graham omental patch can be achieved either by open technique or done laparoscopically. The comparison between open and laparoscopic repair were compared and evaluated in our study. Objective: Comparison between the efficacy, advantages, disadvantages, limitations, post-operative pain, and complications leading to morbidity and death, length of stay in hospital, recurrence and return to normalcy in open and laparoscopic procedures. Patients and …

The Relationship Between Pain Pattern And Disability In Patients With Knee Osteoarthritis, Yasser Gazar, Hatem Mohammed, Mohammed Ghait
Al-Azhar International Medical Journal
Background: Osteoarthritis (OA) knee pain is a global source of impairment. Detecting the site of pain represents an essential technique for diagnosing clinical issues and determining suitable treatments. This study aims to detect the pattern and site of knee pain in patients with knee OA confirmed by X-ray and their effect on the functional status. Patients and Methods: a cross-sectional study including 100 patients with primary knee OA. The Photographic Knee Pain Map (PKPM) has been used to detect pain sites. The physical status has been defined. Results: Most patients are females (88%). Most patients have experienced morning stiffness (79%) …
