Objective: To implement a quality improvement based system to measure and improve data quality in an observational clinical registry to support a Learning Healthcare System.

Data Source: ImproveCareNow Network registry, which as of September 2019 contained data from 314,250 visits of 43,305 pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) patients at 109 participating care centers.

Study Design: The impact of data quality improvement support to care centers was evaluated using statistical process control methodology. As states have embraced additional flexibility to change coverage of and payment for Medicaid services, they have also faced heightened expectations for delivering high-value care. Efforts to meet these new expectations have increased the need for rigorous, evidence-based policy, but states may face challenges finding the resources, capacity, and expertise to meet this need. Ventricular arrhythmias are an important cause of morbidity and mortality and come in a variety of forms, from single premature ventricular complexes to sustained ventricular tachycardia and fibrillation. Rapid developments have taken place over the past decade in our understanding of these arrhythmias and in our ability to diagnose and treat them. The European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE) together with the United European Gastroenterology (UEG) recently developed a short list of performance measures for small-bowel endoscopy (i.e. small-bowel capsule endoscopy and device-assisted enteroscopy) with the final goal of providing endoscopy services across Europe with a tool for quality improvement. Six key performance measures both for small-bowel capsule endoscopy and for device-assisted enteroscopy were selected for inclusion, with the intention being that practice at both a service and endoscopist level should be evaluated against them. In the modern healthcare system, there are still wide gaps of communication of imaging results to physician and patient stakeholders and tracking of whether follow-up has occurred. Patients are also unaware of the significance of findings in radiology reports. Background: Concerted quality improvement (QI) efforts have been taken to discourage the practice of early elective deliveries (EEDs), but few studies have robustly examined the impact of directed QI interventions in reducing EED practices. Using quasi-experimental methods, we sought to evaluate the impact of a statewide QI intervention to reduce the practice of EEDs.

Measurement-based care is common in the management of medical disease, however is rarely used as standard practice in treatment of psychiatric disorders (Waldrop & McGuinness, 2017). Postpartum hemorrhage is a leading cause of maternal death, yet many deaths related to hemorrhage might be prevented with early recognition and intervention. The birthing unit of a U.S. community hospital formed an interprofessional task force to plan and implement a postpartum hemorrhage protocol that would provide the obstetric team with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed for early identification and quick action when hemorrhage occurred. According to the American Cancer Society, colorectal cancers are diagnosed in 1 in 22 men and 1 in 24 women in their lifetime. Despite the wide range of effective CRC screening options available in the US, the Hudson Headwaters Health Network (HHHN) has seen little improvement in its CRC screening rates of approximately 60-63% in recent years. This places HHHN, an FQHC in Upstate New York, well below the National Colorectal Cancer Round Table 2018 goal of 80% screening in eligible, average-risk adults.
