Background/aim: Quality of life is an important health-related factor that has an impact on all health interventions. The aim of the study was to assess psychosocial outcomes in people with diabetes Materials and methods: A total of 142 people with type 2 diabetes were recruited from a specialist diabetes center. The validated Urdu version of the WHO-5 Well-Being Index was administered for easy understanding of the quality of life of the regional population. Results: The 142 adult participants with diabetes were recruited from a specialist diabetes clinic. The rate of likely depression (WHO-5 score of <28) was 16.9%. Neuropathy was found to have a negative impact on the quality of life in people with diabetes (P 6lt; 0.001). Conclusion: People with complications of diabetes like neuropathy may experience worsening quality of life. It is advised to incorporate the WHO-5 into annual patient reviews as a measure of emotional well-being to drive changes that improve outcomes for people with diabetes.

Background/aim: Children with epilepsy have reduced health-related quality of life (HRQOL) due to disease and medications. We aimed to assess child-reported HRQOL in Indian children with epilepsy and compare it with that in healthy children. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional study of 256 children with epilepsy aged between 5 and 18 years on antiepileptic drug (AED) treatment for at least 3 months was performed and 125 age and sex matched healthy children were included. Background/aim: This study aims to evaluate the reliability and validity of the Amblyopia and Strabismus Questionnaire (A&SQ) that is translated into Turkish. Materials and methods: This is a methodological study. A total of 149 patients took part in the survey research between December 2012 and June 2014 in an university hospital, and 37 were retested. Background/aim: This study aimed to compare the levonorgestrel intrauterine system (LNG-IUS) with abdominal hysterectomy (TAH) and total laparoscopic hysterectomy (TLH) as first-line treatments for heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB). Materials and methods: Ninety-eight patients aged 20-55 years who complained of regular heavy menstrual bleeding were enrolled in the study. The TAH group included 29 patients, the LNG-IUS group included 34, and the TLH group included 35.
