Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

Theileria equi, a haemoprotozoan of equids, is responsible for endemic infection/latency in tropical/subtropical parts of the world. The present study investigated the immunokinetics of T. equi infection in experimental animals and the diagnostic applicability of single dilution ELISA vis-à-vis conventional serial dilution ELISA. Sequential serum samples were collected up to 90 days postinfection (PI) from 4 donkeys experimentally infected with T. equi. Immunokinetics of T. equi antibodies end titre were determined by serial and single dilution ELISA. A significant rise in initial ELISA antibody end titre (1:800 in serial dilution ELISA and from 1:600 to 1:650 in single dilution ELISA) …

Canine leishmaniasis (CanL) is a severe, intracellular parasitic zoonosis and is an endemic complaint in Iran. Dogs are considered the reservoir host for Leishmania infantum in the Old World. The aims of this study were to evaluate the relation between anti-Leishmania antibody titers (IgG) and skin symptoms of CanL in naturally affected dogs and to assess the correlation of IgG_1 and IgG_2 subclasses of titers with these symptoms. Anti-Leishmania antibody titers were evaluated in 100 dogs' blood samples with the direct agglutination test (DAT) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) methods. Based on DAT results, 45 samples were positive. Twenty-five of …

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) culture in Mexico experiences sporadic and significant fish mortalities, wheredisease signs are associated with infectious pancreatic necrosis virus disease (IPNV). The purpose of the present workwas to support the potential of ELISA, histopathology, and RT-PCR as routine techniques for IPNV detection.Fourteen trout farms were monitored after a disease outbreak. Positive results were confirmed in different collectedorganisms from 21% of tested farms by all 3 techniques. Virus detection by ELISA and RT-PCR was successfullyperformed in only two days after the initial signs of disease were observed in fish, since these methods are fasterwhen compared to histopathology, which only …

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

Bovine anaplasmosis caused by Anaplasma marginale is considered to be an important disease in China; large-scale investigations have not been carried out since the 1990s, however, and whether or not yaks can be infected by A. marginale has never been investigated. In this study, 2 yaks were successfully infected by the inoculation of blood infected with A. marginale under experimental conditions. Furthermore, an investigation of 482 field serum samples from yaks using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) with the recombinant major surface protein 5 (MSP5) showed that 84.4% of the results were positive. In consideration of previously determined ecological and …

An indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was developed for the detection of IgG serum antibodies to swine Sendai virus. To evaluate the preliminary potential of ELISA, sera from 10 healthy pigs and 34 sera from finishing pigs suffering from respiratory signs were tested. The results were compared with those obtained from the same sera by hemagglutination inhibition assay.
