The Effects Of Dietary Probiotic Supplementation On Some Productivity And Blood Parameters Of Laying Quails Raised Under Constant Heat Stress, Ahmet G. Önol, Mustafa Sari, Fatma Karakaş Oğuz, Beyhan Gülcan, Göksel Erbaş
Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
A study was carried out to determine the effects of yeast based (Biosacc^TM) and mixture of bacteria-mold-yeast based (Protexin^TM) dietary probiotics on live weight, feed consumption, feed efficiency, egg production, egg weight, egg shell weight, and some blood parameters of quails raised under constant heat stress conditions. One hundred and ninety-eight 9-week-old Japanese quails (Coturnix coturnix Japonica) were used in the experiment. They were randomly assigned in equal numbers to three treatments: a control and two dietary probiotic treatments. Dietary treatments had six replicates with 11 quails in each. Three dietary treatments were formed by the inclusion of either no …

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
In this study, the clinical signs of hepatorenal syndrome that occurs during hepatic cirrhosis were investigated and a variety of diagnosis and therapy methods were investigated in the experimentally ligated bile ducts of dogs. The test group with ligated bile ducts (n = 14) and the sham operated control group (n = 14) were divided into 2 sub groups and administered a derivative of spironalactone (Aldoctan® tablet), an antagonist of the aldosteron receptor, at 1.5 mg/kg daily for 5 weeks. Hepatorenal changes and the systemic effects of the drug were determined by comparing the control and test groups during the …

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
In this study, four male Kıvırcık yearlings with permanent rumen cannula were used. The animals were fed according to a 4 x 4 Latin square design over 20-day periods (15-day adaptation period, 5-day collection period). The animals were fed four different ration types. Rations I and II consisted of a 70% alfalfa straw and 30% concentrate mixture, while Rations III and IV consisted of a 30% alfalfa straw and 70% concentrate mixture. Rations II and III were supplemented with a daily dose of 4 g of Yea-Sacc^{1026} (Alltech, Nicholasville; 5 x 10^9 CFU g^{-1}) Saccharomyces cerevisiae live yeast culture. Rumen …

Ornithobacterium Rhinotracheale Infection In A Commercial Broiler Flock, Nesri̇n Turan, Bi̇rsen Akçadağ
Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
Respiratory diseases due to infectious agents are an important problem in the broiler chicken industry. One of the most important infectious agents of chickens is Ornithobacterium rhinotracheale, which has recently been isolated in Turkey and around the world. In this report, O. rhinotracheale infection was detected in broiler chickens submitted to the poultry disease laboratory with respiratory problems, increased mortality and retarded growth.

Haemoglobin And Transferrin Types In Çine Type Sheep, Funda Kargin, Ayşegül Bi̇ldi̇k, Kami̇l Seyrek
Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
Haemoglobin and transferrin types were investigated in Çine type sheep. Separation of transferrin (Tf) and haemoglobin (Hb) types was carried out using horizontal starch-gel and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, respectively. Three Hb A and 59 Hb B types, and 5 transferrin alleles (A, B, M, D, E) were isolated from Çine type sheep. Eight Tf phenotypes consisting of 3 homozygote types (Tf AA, Tf MM, Tf DD) and 5 hetorozygote types (Tf AM, Tf AD, Tf AE, Tf BD, Tf MD) were detected.

Investigation Of Staphylococcus Aureus Isolation And Thermonuclease Activity And Enterotoxin Formation In Some Dairy Desserts, Mustafa Ali̇şarli, Yakup Can Sancak, Levent Akkaya, Ci̇hangi̇r Eli̇bol
Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
In this study, the isolation of Staphylococcus aureus from dairy desserts, and its thermonuclease activity and enterotoxigenic properties were investigated. A total of 175 samples were analyzed consisting of 100 pudding samples (sütlaç [rice pudding] 25, keşkül [milk pudding containing coconut] 30, supangile [chocolate pudding] 25, kazandibi [milk pudding slightly burned on the bottom] 20) and 75 cream pastries (butter-cream 25, chocolate-cream 25, fruit-cream 25). According to the analysis, S. aureus was found in a total of 30 (17%) samples in one sütlaç (4%), three keşkül (10%), four supangile (16%), and two kazandibi (8%) samples (10% of pudding samples; and …
