Though the first brewing process dates back to ancient Mesopotamia, the modern method still presents a host of flaws. Eastern Kentucky lags behind the rest of the state regarding proper health, while Kentucky as a whole is doing worse than national averages. Kentucky not only leads the United States in cancer mortality, but sees higher mortality from heart disease, injury, suicide, diabetes, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The health crisis being observed can largely be attributed to high poverty rates throughout the Eastern half of the state. Building onto a recent serious of ab initio studies of various acid-gas reactions with metal oxide sorbents, electronic structure methods are being used to study the addition of CS₂ to Group IV (MO₂)ₙ and Group VI (MO₃)ₙ (n = 1, 2, 3) nanoclusters, beginning with the MO₂ and MO₃ monomers according to a “bottom-up” approach. The preliminary density functional theory (DFT) calculations in this study provide structures and vibrational frequency thermodynamic corrections for later expanding upon by way of single point correlated molecular-orbital theory (MO) calculations, mainly CCSD(T) and MP2 to study the structures and energies which could arise from …

Internalizing symptoms are symptoms that cannot necessarily be seen. Examples of internalized symptoms include, suicidal thoughts, being withdrawn, and unexplained bodily problems. High levels of internalized symptoms are associated with a higher risk for difficulties in social adjustment and increased risk for substance use.

Sensitivity is a dyadic concept, as it involves determining how the child responds to the parent’s behavior. NICU patients have a decreased risk of CLABSI infections when two-person sterile central line changes are implemented into central line maintenance bundles compared to bundles that only use one-person clean line change techniques.

Neonates admitted to the neonatal care intensive care unit (NICU) often require the placement of central lines for the administration of medications, fluids, parental nutrition, and hemodynamic monitoring. The role of the parent being the primary caregiver is interrupted in the NICU by the advanced care the infant is being provided. These parental role alterations that NICU caregivers experience can negatively impact the parent-infant relationship and ultimately negatively impact overall parental engagement. Even with increased literature showing the need for developmental care through co-occupational engagement with NICU families, it is not systematically integrated into everyday practice. This capstone project aimed to create a systematic way to improve Occupational Therapists’ approach to delivering high quality developmental care through co-occupational parent engagement within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

y program aims to address obesity by educating faculty, children, and parents on proper nutrition and exercise to provide kids with the resources to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Students participated in groups incorporating fun ways to exercise, learning about food groups, creating food crafts with healthy foods, then trying those foods at their leisure. The idea is to expose them to new and/or healthier foods to expand their options for a healthier diet. Resources were also sent home for parents to give them fun activities to do at home that will continue developing their child’s knowledge and expand their palate.
