  • Prior to initiating dialysis, hepatitis B vaccination administration is proven to be more effective than waiting until patients begin dialysis treatments.
  • Efficacy and immune response of the hepatitis B vaccine is greater when kidney function is greater
  • To better improve hepatitis B vaccine administration among the CKD stage 4 population, education measures and Epic modifiers will be implemented to achieve change

Patient compliance with medication instructions on day of surgery (DOS) is an important part of the preoperative assessment, as failure to comply with these may lead to serious perioperative consequences. Prior studies have shown that compliance increases with multimodal interventions. However due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic, many in-person visits transitioned to telephone visits and providers had to rely on patients to follow solely verbal instructions.

Exposure to radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States. One in seven homes in Vermont has elevated levels of radon, but most patients are unaware of radon as a risk factor for lung cancer or that radon testing and mitigation services are available to them. To promote increased testing and mitigation of radon we screened patients presenting to a Family Medicine practice in Vermont about whether they had had these services done in their home.
