Serotyping Of Mannheimia Haemolytica Strains Isolated From Pneumonic Lungs Of Sheep In The Aydın Region Of Turkey, Şükrü Kirkan, Osman Kaya

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

This study was conducted to serotype isolates of Mannheimia haemolytica in the Aydın region of Turkey. A total of 200 lung samples showing pneumonia signs were obtained from slaughterhouses in the Aydın region. Twenty-four strains were isolated as Mannheimia haemolytica complex. Twenty-two strains were identified as Mannheimia haemolytica and 2 were as Pasteurella trehalosi for the first time in the region. The serotyping studies of strains isolated from pneumonic lung samples showed that Mannheimia haemolytica serotypes A1, A2, A6, A7, A8 and Pasteurella trehalosi serotype T4 were present in Aydın.

Isolation And Serotyping Of Ornithobacterium Rhinotracheale From Poultry, Süheyla Türkyilmaz Jan 2005

Isolation And Serotyping Of Ornithobacterium Rhinotracheale From Poultry, Süheyla Türkyilmaz

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The aims of this study were the isolation of Ornithobacterium rhinotracheale from poultry and serotyping of the isolates and field sera by agar gel precipitation (AGP) test. For the isolation 257 chickens and 214 turkeys were used and for the AGP test 333 chickens and 250 turkeys were used. O. rhinotracheale was isolated from the sinus discharge of 3 broiler breeders at 37, 42 and 46 weeks of age. It was determined that 3 isolates were O. rhinotracheale serotype I having cross reactions with serotype L. Of 333 sera examined 86 were found seropositive in chickens by AGP test. It …

Isolation Of Clostridium Perfringens From Chickens And Detection Of The Alpha Toxin Gene By Polymerase Chain Reaction (Pcr), Hakan Kalender, Hasan Basri̇ Ertaş Jan 2005

Isolation Of Clostridium Perfringens From Chickens And Detection Of The Alpha Toxin Gene By Polymerase Chain Reaction (Pcr), Hakan Kalender, Hasan Basri̇ Ertaş

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

This study was carried out to isolate Clostridium perfringens from chickens and to detect the gene encoding the alpha toxin produced by all types of C. perfringens by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Intestinal contents of 160 slaughtered chickens from 8 different farms in Elazığ province were analyzed. C. perfringens was isolated from 8 (5%) of the samples. DNA samples extracted from suspected isolates grown on selective agar were amplified by PCR using a pair of primers derived from the alpha toxin gene. All of 8 suspected isolates were found to be C. perfringens by conventional methods and PCR. Isolates were …
