Adrenalectomy For Solitary Metastasis Of Hepatocellular Carcinoma Post Liver Transplantation: Case Report And Literature Review, Imran K. Jalbani, Nazim Syed Muhammad, Usman Tariq Siddiqui, Farahat Abbas

Department of Surgery

Abstract

Liver transplantation (LT) is the treatment of choice for localized hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) associated with cirrhosis. Extra hepatic metastasis is the most common cause of death in these patients. There is very little evidence regarding the natural history and treatment options for patients developing HCC recurrence after LT. Surgical resection offers a unique opportunity for solitary metastasis. We report a 61 year old male with solitary right adrenal metastasis 15 months post LT which was managed with open adrenalectomy. The patient is alive and disease free 24 months after the surgery. The case, histo-pathological findings and literature review is …

(Looks Can Be Deceiving): Adrenal Teratoma Causing Diagnostic Difficulty, Mehwash Nadeem, Hammad Ather, M Nasir Sulaiman, Shahid Pervez

Department of Surgery

Abstract

Teratomas are unusual tumours that derived from totipotent cells with their origin from more than one or usually all three germ cells. Here authors are presenting a case of primary retroperitoneal tumour that is a rare clinical entity. A 19-year-old male presented with right lumbar pain and was found to have complex cyst with large calcification in right adrenal gland on imaging. Intraoperatively, he was found to have a solid mass with areas of soft consistency, which was excised en bloc. On gross examination, the cyst contained pieces of bone, few teeth, and hairs entangled in mucinous material. On …

Granular Cell Tumors Of The Urinary Bladder, Farhat Abbas, Amanullah Memon, Tanya Siddiqi, Naila Kayani Naila Kayani, Nazim Ali Ahmad

Department of Surgery

Abstract

BACKGROUND:

Granular cell tumors (GCTs) are extremely rare lesions of the urinary bladder with only nine cases being reported in world literature of which one was malignant. Generally believed to be of neural origin based on histochemical, immunohistochemical, and ultrastructural studies; they mostly follow a clinically benign course but are commonly mistaken for malignant tumors since they are solid looking, ulcerated tumors with ill-defined margins.

MATERIALS AND METHODS:

We herein report two cases of GCTs, one benign and one malignant, presenting with gross hematuria in a 14- and a 47-year-old female, respectively.

RESULTS:

Histopathology revealed characteristic GCTs with positive …
