Self-perception is a complex view of the self that incorporates a person's attitudes, preferences, and actions and interprets these behaviors to have a view of the self. This study attempts to look at the self perception of college students and observe how this is influenced by a person’s academic experience. Specifically, when addressing academic experience the areas being investigated are achievement within several subjects, enjoyment within these subjects, and extracurricular activities, both inside and outside of the university setting. Background: Men and women's perceptions of intimate partner violence (IPV) within crisis-affected populations are not well understood. This mixed-methods study examined the frequency of IPV against women in urban Cote d'Ivoire, and qualitatively explored how men and women perceive the impact of various forms of IPV on health, everyday activities, and feelings of shame.

Methods: A survey was administered to Ivorian women (N = 80) to measure the frequency of IPV, and ten focus group discussions were conducted with women (n = 46) and men (n = 45) to explore perceptions of different forms of IPV, including its impacts on …

The concept of mindsets was developed by Carol Dweck, a Stanford University psychologist. Her vision was to help children and adults understand that they do not have a fixed amount of intelligence or a fixed amount of talent. Dweck implies that we are not born with a gene that says this is the only amount of talent and intelligence that we will ever have in our lifetime. Our talents and intelligence can be manipulated through hard work and practice. Dweck has devised two terms that are central to her mindsets concept. The first is a fixed mindset which is the …
