Background: The advent of drug-eluting balloons (DEBs) is a promising development for coronary revascularization procedures, especially for in-stent restenosis (ISR). This study aims to highlight our experience with DEBs in the treatment of drug-eluting ISR at a tertiary care hospital in Pakistan.

Objective: To determine the 30-day complication rate of radical cystectomy and urinary diversion using a validated system.
Study Design: An analytical descriptive study.
Place and Duration of Study: The Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi, from 1990 to 2010.
Methodology: Patients who had undergone ileal conduit (IC) formation, following radical cystectomy (RC) for muscle invasive transitional cell carcinoma, were studied, using a prospectively maintained data base. OBJECTIVE:

To identify the characteristics of unintentional domestic injury in children living in a semi-rural area of Karachi.

METHODS:

This retrospective descriptive study was carried out at a private hospital located at the northern outskirts of Karachi, Pakistan, from January 2005 to January 2007. We enrolled 271 out-patient children of either gender with a positive injury history. A questionnaire inquiring socio-demographic characteristics, timing of injury, monthly variation, injury pattern and factors was filled out. Descriptive analysis and Chi-square test were applied to find out the statistically significant differences.

Neonatal Hyperbilirubinaemia is a common finding during the first postnatal week. Physiological jaundice occurs in first week of life in 60% of term and 80% of premature neonates. Non physiologic or pathologic jaundice occurs in 5-10% of newborns which require intervention. General self-efficacy (GSE), the expectation that one is able to perform a behavior successfully, may differentiate those who are able to successfully utilize self-care symptom management strategies (SCSMS). Objective: To evaluate midazolam as an epidural analgesic in patients undergoing single-level microdiscectomy.
Methods: This prospective case control study was carried out at the Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi, from January 20 to September 20, 2007, on patients undergoing microdiscectomy. Cases (group A) received midazolam with saline, while controls (group B) received saline only, placed intra-operatively over involved nerve root. Post-operatively, patients were monitored for various variables. Data was analysed using SPSS 13.0 and groups were compared using student's t-test for continuous variables and chi square for categorical variables. P-value <0.05 was considered significant.

Assessment Of Knowledge, Skill And Attitude Of Oncology Nurses In Chemotherapy Administration In Tertiary Hospital Pakistan., Najma Khan, Khurshid Zulfiqar Ali Khowaja, Tazeen Saeed Ali

Objective:

To measure the levels of nurse’s knowledge and attitude after the conduct of education session regarding chemotherapy administration and management.

Methodology:

This research study was conducted at two oncology units of tertiary Hospital Rawalpindi. A prepost test intervention study design was used on 35 nurses by using Verity’s tools.

Results:

The mean scores of knowledge were calculated by Cochran’s Q test showed that knowledge scores have significantly increased with ‘educational training’ (p value < 0.001). The difference in the attitude of the nurses was not found to be statistically significant in repeated measure of ANOVA.

Conclusion:

The results show that knowledge is the weakest component and attitude is strongest component of oncology nurses ‘competencies in chemotherapy administration.
