Differences Between Nurse-Led Intervention Topics, Longevity, Changed Practices, And Sustainability Planning, Robin Anselm Jan 2023

Differences Between Nurse-Led Intervention Topics, Longevity, Changed Practices, And Sustainability Planning, Robin Anselm

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Though health care providers use evidence-based interventions (EBIs), a knowledge gap exists regarding lasting change associated with doctorate-prepared nurse interventions and sustainability planning. This quantitative cross-sectional descriptive design guided by the five pillars of the United Nations sustainable development goals (SDGs) was used to examine the differences between doctorate-prepared nurses’ sustainable EBI topics, intervention longevity, changed clinical practices, and sustainability planning. The dynamic sustainability framework, the adult learning theory, and the social learning theory framed this study. The design included a survey of 1,365 nurse anesthesiologists using a questionnaire composed of the Program Sustainability Assessment Tool (PSAT) version 2 and …

Beyond The Basics: Educating Nurses At The Bedside About Evidence-Based Practice, Katherine D. Simpson

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

The nursing profession is a large and dynamic part of the healthcare industry with the greatest percentage of nurses practicing at the bedside. An increase in nursing professionalism with evidence-based practice has emerged over the past several decades. However, evidence continues to support a lack of knowledge among registered nurses in implementing evidence-based patient care at the bedside and the need for education related to evidence-based practice. The analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation model of instructional design framed this Doctor of Nursing Practice project. The purpose of the project was to fill the practice gap through the planning, implementation, …

Educational Module Toolkit To Assist Adult Patients With Type Ii Diabetes Mellitus, Dometrives Armstrong Jan 2017

Educational Module Toolkit To Assist Adult Patients With Type Ii Diabetes Mellitus, Dometrives Armstrong

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Diabetes is a challenging chronic disease for adult patients to manage effectively. Poor adherence to prescribed medications treatment is one of the main reasons for poor blood sugar control. Despite healthcare providers' efforts to emphasize the importance of taking medications, adult patients with Type II diabetes frequently present with complications related to persistent failure to adhere to prescribed medication regimen. These patients should thoroughly understand why adhering to a strict medication regimen to maintain control of their blood sugar is so important. The purpose of this project, guided by Orem's self-care deficit nursing theory, was to develop an educational module …

Development Of Mentors To Facilitate Evidence-Based Practice In A Nurse Residency, Susan Annette Breit Jan 2015

Development Of Mentors To Facilitate Evidence-Based Practice In A Nurse Residency, Susan Annette Breit

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Evidence-based practice has resulted in better patient outcomes, higher patient satisfaction, and effective patient-centered care. Leadership of a large teaching hospital determined that new nurses lacked the education and experience to design and implement an evidence-based project at the bedside, which was an expected outcome for completion of the established nurse residency program. The purpose of this project was to develop a design-only project in which Masters of Science in Nursing-prepared mentors were added to the residency program to establish the required evidence-based project. A mentor workshop was developed to guide the mentors in this role using Benner's novice to …
