Hip arthroplasty, a frequently performed orthopedic surgery, is gaining popularity. However, postoperative pain, opioid utilization, nausea, and vomiting are common side effects associated with this procedure. Perioperative analgesic management for hip arthroplasty varies among providers, leading to possible inadequate pain management. The goal of this scholarly project is to provide an optimal perioperative analgesic guideline to decrease postoperative pain, opioid consumption, nausea, and vomiting in adults undergoing elective hip arthroplasty utilizing evidence-based practice. The evidence suggests that a multimodal analgesic approach incorporating multiple drug classes and types of anesthesia is most effective in reducing adverse postoperative outcomes. Though health care providers use evidence-based interventions (EBIs), a knowledge gap exists regarding lasting change associated with doctorate-prepared nurse interventions and sustainability planning. This quantitative cross-sectional descriptive design guided by the five pillars of the United Nations sustainable development goals (SDGs) was used to examine the differences between doctorate-prepared nurses’ sustainable EBI topics, intervention longevity, changed clinical practices, and sustainability planning. The dynamic sustainability framework, the adult learning theory, and the social learning theory framed this study. Preventative care in free clinic settings aims to mitigate health risks for vulnerable populations. Heavy alcohol intake is a major threat to physical and mental health. Wellness care for free clinic patients must include regular screening for alcohol use in accordance with national guidelines. The purpose of this project was to implement and evaluate an evidence- based practice change to improve alcohol screening and intervention in a free clinic setting. Therapeutic hypothermia (TH) is a treatment initiated by critical care providers for the management of cardiac arrest. It has been shown to lower the body temperature, reduce the inflammatory response, and suppress many of the pathways leading to delayed cell death. Falls are a problem in the elderly population. Evidence-based fall prevention programs are available but physical therapists do not always utilize them. Alcohol use and the resulting problems associated with high-risk drinking in the American Indian/Native Alaskan (AI/NA) population are well-documented, as alcohol misuse has taken an incredible toll on many AI/NA communities. Presently, both overall health issues and alcohol use occur disproportionately within this population. This article provides an updated overview of the impact of alcohol use in the United States and within AI/NA communities specifically. It also provides recommendations for an alcohol-related screening and brief intervention instrument that social workers can begin using in their practice and can be utilized within the AI/NA community.

This project builds on the work of Glisson et al., (2008) and the knowledge learned from community-based mental health organization’s internal structures (e.g., culture and climate), which possibly impede the implantation and adoption of new technologies. The Organizational Social Context (OSC) Model measurement system is guided by a model of social context that composes both organizational and individual level constructs, including individual and shared perceptions that are believed to mediate the impact of the organization on the individual. Although the OSC has been developed and validated over time, the literature does not provide guidance on test-retest reliability of the scale.
