Obstetric hemorrhage is the leading cause of maternal morbidity and mortality worldwide (Butwick & Goodnough, 2015).  It also represents an avoidable cause of maternal morbidity and mortality (Seacrist, Bingham, Scheich, & Byfield, 2018).  The most common treatment for obstetric hemorrhage is blood transfusion.  Members of the Jehovah’s Witness religious group do not accept blood transfusion as a medical treatment.  Therefore, women in this community are at a 44-fold increased risk of mortality related to childbirth compared to the general population (Singla, Lapinski, Berkowitz, & Saphier, 2001).  The California Maternal Quality Care Collaborative (CMQCC) has been instrumental in decreasing postpartum hemorrhage rates …
