To measure force generated by rugby union players during the scrum, we instrumented a scrum machine using S-type load cells for voltage force data collection. Data collection may take place in a variety of settings with varying access to primary power. The voltage outputs from electronic equipment may change when using battery versus AC power. Purpose: To compare the load-voltage relationship in S-type load cells between wall outlet AC power and a lithium ion battery pack and inverter. Some individuals diagnosed with Long Haul COVID (lCOVID) have concurrently reported cognitive issues such as confusion, forgetfulness, decreased attention time, and difficulty focusing. This series of symptoms is termed brain fog. PURPOSE: Patients with reports of brain fog may benefit from the utilization of protocols associated with concussion rehabilitation to reduce the effects of confusion, frustration, and difficulty focusing on exercise instructions. Outdoor running includes air resistance, whereas treadmill running typically does not. In the research lab and clinical settings, expensive ultrasound machines are used to measure arterial occlusion pressure (AOP) prior to the use of blood flow restriction during exercise. The Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) is a newly developed test assessing U.S. Army soldiers' combat readiness. Body composition characteristics vary between soldiers and could affect performance outcomes. The purpose of this cross-sectional study is to determine whether fat-mass and fat-free-mass can predict performance outcomes of the ACFT in ROTC cadets. Chronic ethanol consumption contributes to the global prevalence’s of cardiovascular disease by mechanisms involving an inflammatory response and consequent lipid peroxidation. Cytochrome p450 is a part of the microsomal ethanol oxidizing system (MEOS) and can utilize iron complexes and the reductant NADPH to catalyze the breakdown of acute/chronic ethanol consumption. A common strategy that athletic trainers and high-performance athletes use to manage and treat running-related injuries is gait retraining. However, the research is equivocal on how gait retraining can affect running economy and subsequent running performance in distance runners. A new prediction model was developed that predicts running performance based on oxygen consumption changes, however, it is unclear if this model is valid and can accurately be used to predict running performance as a result of gait retraining. Exercising in the heat is very common yet can pose significant health risks such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke when core temperature exceeds 38°C and 40°C, respectively. However, current methods of core temperature measurement are invasive and impractical. Recent research indicates that core temperature can be predicted with two non-invasive inputs, heart rate (HR) and skin temperature. The autonomic nervous system plays an essential role during exercise by adjusting cardiac output (CO) and redistribution of peripheral blood flows. One primary mechanism responsible for such alterations is the exercise pressor reflex (EPR), a feedback mechanism from contracting muscles via mechano- and metabo-receptor activation. The EPR adjusts the circulation by evoking reflex increases in sympathetic outflow to the heart and the vasculature, eventually increasing blood pressure (BP) during exercise.
