The Practice Of Dry Needling In Physical Therapy, Sarah A. Robertson
The Practice Of Dry Needling In Physical Therapy, Sarah A. Robertson
University Honors Theses
This thesis is a systematic review that discusses the current state of the treatment modality of "Dry Needling" in the field of physical therapy. To do this, current studies of the patient outcomes associated with Dry Needling are analyzed and discussed, as well as legislation at both the state and national levels.
Understanding The Efficacy Of Telehealth In Pediatric Occupational Therapy, Katheren Bettermann
Understanding The Efficacy Of Telehealth In Pediatric Occupational Therapy, Katheren Bettermann
University Honors Theses
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) expanded telehealth, an electronic health care service, to virtually treat patients. Many occupational therapy and public health scholars are researching the effectiveness of telehealth for all age groups or for adults only. The purpose of this study is to understand the efficacy of telehealth as a pediatric occupational therapy modality and expose variables effecting treatment quality.
I created a survey in Qualtrics, a web-based software. The target population was pediatric occupational therapists (OTs) licensed in Oregon. Qualitative and quantitative questions addressed respondent qualifications, telehealth and pediatric occupational therapy …
Assessing The Efficacy Of Physical Prehabilitation On A Total Knee Arthroplasty, Zen S. Miyashiro
Assessing The Efficacy Of Physical Prehabilitation On A Total Knee Arthroplasty, Zen S. Miyashiro
University Honors Theses
Prehabilitation is a rather new method of approach to the physical therapy setting in which patients attend therapy sessions to prepare for their upcoming surgery. Researchers hypothesize that if patients enter a procedure with higher levels of strength and function, they will be able to recover from their surgery quicker and more successfully. This literature review assesses different approaches that numerous studies have taken with regards to prehabilitation for patients about to undergo a Total Knee Arthroplasty. Majority of the studies conclude that there needs to be further research done to yield consistent results. Based on what has been done, …
Randomized, Clinical Trials On The Effects Of Robotic-Assisted Gait Training For Stroke Subjects: A Scoping Review, Daniel K. Hufnagel
Randomized, Clinical Trials On The Effects Of Robotic-Assisted Gait Training For Stroke Subjects: A Scoping Review, Daniel K. Hufnagel
University Honors Theses
Robotic-assisted gait training has been cited as a potential rehabilitation intervention for the recovery of ambulation in hemiplegic stroke patients. Previous reviews on robotic gait training have elicited a need for more randomized, clinical studies on robotic gait training for the development of evidence-based intervention protocols and elimination of research bias. The purpose of this scoping review was to provide an updated examination of the clinical research on robotic assisted gait training and address any research gaps to be considered for future research. This review included randomized, clinical trials on stroke patients with a robotic-assisted treatment (RAGT) and conventional gait …
