The Feasibility Of Transitional Psychiatric Care Service In A City With A Population 20, 171 In A Midwestern State, Aubri Ashbacher
The Feasibility Of Transitional Psychiatric Care Service In A City With A Population 20, 171 In A Midwestern State, Aubri Ashbacher
Doctor of Nursing Practice Scholarly Project
Psychiatric patients are a known vulnerable population. This population often ends up in a cycle of decline post-hospitalization that leads to rehospitalization. The purpose of this study is to establish the feasibility for bringing psychiatric transitional care services to the local community. The methods for the study include a qualitative analysis of common themes discussed from the presentation of the idea of transitional care services for this area to area mental healthcare providers. Using a qualitative approach, the project will involve conducting interviews with mental healthcare providers in a midwestern community via Zoom about the feasibility of transitional psychiatric care …
Medication Moderates Link Between Adhd And Some Intimate Partner Violence Measures, Griffin Williams, Jamie Wood
Medication Moderates Link Between Adhd And Some Intimate Partner Violence Measures, Griffin Williams, Jamie Wood
Posters
Intimate partner violence (IPV), is a significant public health concern involving physical or psychological threats from a current or former romantic partner. (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2014). Previous investigations have revealed that nearly half of all women and men have suffered from psychological aggression by an intimate partner at some point (Black et al., 2011). While IPV affects both genders, females suffer more than five million IPV incidents each year and nearly two million injuries (National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, 2003). While many predictors have been linked to IPV, we focused on Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) …
University Students' Involvement In A Health Promoting Lifestyle: Influencing Factors Of The Health Promotion Model, Madison Estrada
University Students' Involvement In A Health Promoting Lifestyle: Influencing Factors Of The Health Promotion Model, Madison Estrada
Electronic Theses & Dissertations
Abstract: This is a correlational study utilizing Nola Pender’s Health Promotion Model (HPM) for examining the key influential factors regarding involvement in a health promoting lifestyle (HPL) among undergraduate students at Pittsburg State University. Ninety-six (96) undergraduate students enrolled in general psychology courses at Pittsburg State University completed the Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile-II (HPLP-II; Walker, Sechrist, & Pender, 1987), the Exercise Benefits/Barriers Scale (EBBS; Pender, Walker, & Sechrist, 1987), the Self-Efficacy for Exercise Scale (SEE Scale; Resnick & Jenkins, 2000), and the Physical Activity Stages of Change Questionnaire (Marcus, Selby, Niaura, & Rossi, 1992). Spearman Correlation coefficients (one-tailed tests), were …
Stigmatizing Attitudes Towards Men And Women Combat Veterans With Combat Related Ptsd, Heather L. Caldwell
Stigmatizing Attitudes Towards Men And Women Combat Veterans With Combat Related Ptsd, Heather L. Caldwell
Electronic Theses & Dissertations
Veterans with PTSD experience stigma and discrimination. The extent to which women combat veterans with PTSD may experience stigma and discrimination has yet to be investigated. This is critical given the increasing number of women veterans exposed to combat and combat trauma. Level of familiarity may affect stigmatizing beliefs. Gender may also affect stigmatizing beliefs. To assess this, 126 undergraduate students (men, n = 69) were randomly assigned to view videos of a man or woman veteran describing combat experience and their PTSD symptoms. Participants completed questionnaires assessing PTSD symptoms, level of familiarity with veterans, and stigmatizing attitudes toward the …
Compromise Theory : Values, Desires, And Social Structure, Jeremy Stone Briggs
Compromise Theory : Values, Desires, And Social Structure, Jeremy Stone Briggs
Electronic Theses & Dissertations
This thesis is an empirical analysis of a developing criminology theory. The purpose of the data analysis was to, in the theoretical framework of Compromise Theory, examine the connection between micro-level structural conditions (i.e. immediate situational conditions) and individuals' values, attitudes, and beliefs. Compromise Theory assumes that individuals are motivated primarily by their interests and desires and that belief systems and values are among the many long-term interests an individual holds. Compromise Theory proposes that in order to reach a decision of action, an individual will compromise their values and beliefs in varying degrees according to the circumstances and demands …
A Comparison Of Unidimensional And Multidimensional Locus Of Control Scales For The Measurement Of The Effects Of Self-Regulation Training, Alan Joseph Paduano
A Comparison Of Unidimensional And Multidimensional Locus Of Control Scales For The Measurement Of The Effects Of Self-Regulation Training, Alan Joseph Paduano
Electronic Theses & Dissertations
Comprehensive training in self regulation (SR) (including biofeedback training, relaxation techniques, and cognitive therapy principles) has been proposed as a means of affecting change in individual locus of control (LOC) orientation. The current study directly compared a uni-dimensional LOC scale (Ratter, 1966) with a multidimensional LOC scale (Levenson, 1973) in the ability to detect changes in the LOC orientation. Other effects of SR training were measured by the State-Trait Anxiety Scale (STAY) and the Irrational Beliefs Test (IBT). Nineteen participants in a biofeedback/stress reduction class completed a course in SR training. The pre-test/post-test results were compared with those of a …
The Effect Of Locus Of Control On The Procrastination Behavior Of College Students, Eileen Debra Rudnick
The Effect Of Locus Of Control On The Procrastination Behavior Of College Students, Eileen Debra Rudnick
Electronic Theses & Dissertations
The purpose of the present study was to examine the relationship between locus of control and the Procrastination behavior of individuals in an academic setting. Investigated in this study was the relationship between the two aspects of procrastination, the delaying of a task and the psychological distress that results from that behavior, and locus of controls in terms of an internal or external generalized belief.
The Adult Nowicki - Duke Locus of Control scale and the Procrastination Assessment scale - Students were given to 267 undergraduate students between the ages of 17 and 48 at Pittsburg State University. The data …
Intelligence Quotient Vs Brain Ability : A Correlational Study Of The Brain's Perceptual Ability Through Three Different Sensory Modalities And Intelligence Quotient, Harold A. Wynn
Electronic Theses & Dissertations
The purpose of this study was to investigate how an individual's ability to perceive various stimuli through the auditory, olfactory, and tactile sensory systems correlates with his/her ability to perform on the Wechsler standard intelligence test.
A Study Of Factor B Of The Early School Personality Questionnaire(Espq) As A Valid Measure Of General Mental Ability, Claude S. Iles
A Study Of Factor B Of The Early School Personality Questionnaire(Espq) As A Valid Measure Of General Mental Ability, Claude S. Iles
Electronic Theses & Dissertations
This study investigated the validity of the general ability factor, Factor B of the Early School Personality Questionnaire(ESPQ), in two ways. First, validity coefficients for Factor B were obtained by computing product-moment correlation coefficients between the ESPQ Factor B raw scores of 40 developmentally disabled subjects and their raw scores on the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Revised (WISC-R). Second, the Kruskal-Wallis rank sums test and a distribution-free multiple comparisons test were employed to determine if there were significant differences among the mean ESPQ Factor B raw scores of subjects designated as mentally retarded, learning disabled, or normal. Specifically, it was …
The Effect Of Verbal Reinforcement On The Self-References Of Psychiatric Patients Who Are Characterized By A High Number Of Negative Self-References, Earl William Rakestraw Ii
The Effect Of Verbal Reinforcement On The Self-References Of Psychiatric Patients Who Are Characterized By A High Number Of Negative Self-References, Earl William Rakestraw Ii
Electronic Theses & Dissertations
The effect of positive verbal reinforcement on the verbal self-references of hospitalized psychiatric patients was studied. Eighteen patients, characterized by a high production rate of negative, verbal self-references, were matched on the following variables: age, length of hospitalization, medication, psychotherapy participation, intelligence quotient, sex, and adjustment score discrepancy obtained on a Q-sort test. After the subjects were given the pre-experimental Q-sorts and matched on the other variables, nine were randomly assigned to the experimental group and nine to the control group. All of the subjects were then administered six individual interviews in which they responded to 30 questions and statements …

Subliminal Stimulus Recall In Persons Who Are And Are Not Aware Of The Stimulus, Delayne Hudspeth
Subliminal Stimulus Recall In Persons Who Are And Are Not Aware Of The Stimulus, Delayne Hudspeth
Electronic Theses & Dissertations
In this study an effort was made to determine, in part, if the fears of persons who have been decrying the use of subliminal stimulation in advertising were realistic. Accepting the work of other scholars that this phase of perception does exist, this writer attempted to explore one facet of the problem with this hypothesis: persons who receive subliminal stimuli will be more apt to consciously recall the stimuli if they are aware that the stimuli are being given.
Research on this phase of subliminal perception was done with visual stimuli on students in beginning psychology courses. Given a pre-test …
