Head And Neck Tumor Histopathological Image Representation With Pre- Trained Convolutional Neural Network And Vision Transformer, Ranny Rahaningrum Herdiantoputri, Daisuke Komura, Tohru Ikeda, Shumpei Ishikawa

Journal of Dentistry Indonesia

Image representation via machine learning is an approach to quantitatively represent histopathological images of head and neck tumors for future applications of artificial intelligence-assisted pathological diagnosis systems. Objective: This study compares image representations produced by a pre-trained convolutional neural network (VGG16) to those produced by a vision transformer (ViT-L/14) in terms of the classification performance of head and neck tumors. Methods: W hole-slide images of five oral t umor categories (n = 319 cases) were analyzed. Image patches were created from manually annotated regions at 4096, 2048, and 1024 pixels and rescaled to 256 pixels. Image representations were …

Prognostic Factors Of Myasthenia Gravis Remission After Thymectomy At National Referral Hospital In Indonesia, Suprayitno Wardoyo, Winda J. Layardi Dec 2022

Prognostic Factors Of Myasthenia Gravis Remission After Thymectomy At National Referral Hospital In Indonesia, Suprayitno Wardoyo, Winda J. Layardi

The New Ropanasuri Journal of Surgery

Introduction. Thymectomy is a recommended treatment for myasthenia gravis, enfacing the problem of a low remission rate. However, Indonesian-specific characteristics of myasthenia gravis are somehow different from those of well-developed countries. Thus, identifying prognostic factors influencing remission is required for patient selection to provide optimal preoperative issues.

Methods. A retrospective cohort proceeded in our tertiary hospital, enrolling those diagnosed with myasthenia gravis who underwent thymectomy for four years. Disease period modified Osserman classification, age, sex, preoperative plasmapheresis, preoperative steroid therapy, type of surgery, and thymic pathology were the variables of interest for three-year follow-up. In addition, these variables …

Review: Conventional Thrombectomy With Intraoperative Fluoroscopy In Acute Limb Ischemia Rutherford Iib, Heru Angkoso, Dedy Pratama

The New Ropanasuri Journal of Surgery

Introduction. Acute limb ischemia (ALI) is a severe condition affecting the extremities and the patient’s survival that requires immediate treatment. It can be treated with either surgical or endovascular revascularization or both (hybrid procedure). It is crucial to evaluate the defect using intraoperative fluoroscopy or angiography in each case. The review aimed to find out the outcomes of the thrombectomy with intraoperative fluoroscopy for ALI Rutherford IIb.

Method. According to the PRISMA protocol, the literature search proceeded in online databases, i.e., Cochrane, Scopus, PubMed, and EBSCOhost, with no year limitation on the publication. All articles were screened and critically appraised. …

In current medical practice when a patient feels symptoms he/she would consult the doctor. The doctor then gives medication in a one-fits-all fashion. However, recent genetics studies had shown that different genetic makeup can results in different effects on medication, so the medication should be customed for every individual. The main idea of “personalized medicine” is to provide the right intervention including medication to the right patient at the right time and dose. With this approach, the medication paradigm would shift from curative to preventive. The rise of personalized medicine had been possible because the information from ever-increasing biomolecular (proteomics, …

Transanastomotic Feeding Tube In Surgical Management Of Congenital Duodenal Obstruction: Case Series, Hardian Gunardi, Asri D. Rachmawati, Nanok E. Susilo, Riana P. Tamba Dec 2020

Transanastomotic Feeding Tube In Surgical Management Of Congenital Duodenal Obstruction: Case Series, Hardian Gunardi, Asri D. Rachmawati, Nanok E. Susilo, Riana P. Tamba

The New Ropanasuri Journal of Surgery

Introduction. Prolonged fasting is a major concern in the postoperative management of congenital duodenal obstruction. Massive dilatation of the proximal segment would lead to diameter discrepancy and lack of propulsion, thus delaying enteral feeding. A transanastomotic feeding tube is an option to deliver early enteral feeding after surgical correction. The study evaluates the effectiveness and safety of a transanastomotic feeding tubes in the surgical management of congenital duodenal obstruction.

Method. The transanastomotic feeding tube's effectiveness in cases of congenital duodenal obstruction of the newborn underwent surgical correction was evaluated. Those managed from January 2016 to December 2018 at …
