Background: Pediatric patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) face elevated risk for invasive pneumococcal disease, yet fewer than 10% are estimated to be current on pneumococcal vaccine (PCV) recommendations.

Local Problem: This quality improvement (QI) project aimed to develop and implement a standardized pneumococcal immunization screening and counseling process in a pediatric rheumatology clinic.

Method: Three consecutive PDSA cycles guided implemention across a nine-week intervention period using a pre-post quasi-experimental design.

Huddles are an evidence-based strategy to facilitate a culture of safety within nursing teams. A review of 158 huddle studies found that 44.3% reported improved clinical outcomes and 24.3% showed fewer medical errors when huddles were implemented (Pimentel et al., 2021). Currently, a local hospital’s 13-bed ICU lacks an effective system for nursing staff to huddle due to staffing constraints and the absence of monitor technicians, creating safety concerns when nurses leave monitors unattended. Despite the availability of evidence-based screening methods, inconsistent application and limited nurse confidence were identified as key practice gaps. This retrospective, descriptive study examined how clinical judgment was demonstrated across two immersive virtual reality simulation (IVRS) experiences in a cohort of Direct Entry Master of Science in Nursing (DEMSN) students using a generative large language model artificial intelligence, ChatGPT, for categorization of clinical judgment cognitive processes. The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) Clinical Judgment Measurement Model (CJMM) guided the study (NCSBN, 2022). Trauma-informed care (TIC) is integral to pediatric critical care (PCC) but accessible, scalable education is limited. This mixed-methods pilot study developed and evaluated Be Trauma Informed, a two-episode podcast educational series designed to increase PCC nurses’ TIC knowledge, attitudes, and trauma-informed practices while also assessing implementation outcomes of feasibility, necessity, acceptability, fidelity, safety, and beginning effectiveness. This DNP quality improvement project aimed to reduce 30-day readmission rates for patients with schizoaffective disorder (SAD) by enhancing discharge planning interventions. Using pre- and post-intervention methods, the project compared readmission rates before and after implementing interventions and gathered feedback from patients and staff to identify barriers and facilitators. The intervention bundle included patient education, participation in psychotherapy or support groups, medication reconciliation, and the use of long-acting injectables (LAIs) during hospitalization and prior to discharge. Stress among nursing students is a well-documented problem that contributes to physical, mental, and emotional issues, substance abuse, and program dropout. A mindfulness-based stress reduction program was implemented with nursing students to evaluate its impact on perceived stress levels over a five-week period. A review of evidence-based articles provides strong evidence that this intervention correlates with reduced reported stress. An MBSRP was implemented with nursing students who completed a Perceived Stress Scale 10 (PSS-10) before the intervention and again after five weeks.
