The Christian of today has the weighty task of discerning biblical truth in the midst of widely varying perspectives on every matter imaginable—especially in the healthcare setting. This essay aims to bring clarity to this mission by outlining the basic content of a biblical worldview, the defining characteristics of the nursing profession, and how the Christian with a biblical worldview approaches two specific areas of contention within the nursing profession.

Gaining IV access is this first step into accurate, timely diagnosis and interventions of patients. Nurses are typically the first medical professional a patient sees. If the nurse can establish IV access as early as possible this will lead to faster interventions faster diagnostic results and better management for patients and ultimately better patient outcomes. Ultrasound guided IV can increase first attempt success rates leading to decreased painful IV insertions by multiple nurses. This would increase patient satisfactions scores leading to higher re-imbursement.

Quality discharge teaching prepares patients and families to transition safely from hospital to home. Technology can enhance and support quality discharge teaching by promoting patient family engagement during the transition. The purpose of this mixed methods study was to explore clinical nurses' experience with using Engaging Parents in Education for Discharge, an iPad application to guide quality discharge teaching. Twelve nurses at a large Midwestern Children's Hospital participated in small focus groups after use of the Engaging Parents in Education for Discharge application and completed a questionnaire on their perception of the acceptability and feasibility of the app. Findings revealed …

Objectives: This review explores evidence-based methods of increasing cultural awareness in pre-licensure nursing students during cultural immersion experiences (CIEs).
Design: A literature review was conducted in March of 2022.
Data sources: Databases employed included CINAHL and MEDLINE. The search strategy included publication dates between 2017 and 2022, English-only transcripts, and full-text references from academic journals, dissertations, and books.
Review methods: The review assessed for quality by searching relevant articles for bias and ensuring each study was from an accredited journal. Editorials and opinion pieces were omitted.

In addressing the potential for a creative writing practice to serve as an effective intervention against nurse burnout, we ask the following research question: In RNs who have practiced between 2-10 years, does participation in a creative writing program decrease burnout symptoms compared to nurses who do not participate within a time frame of one year. Burnout syndrome is a collective term that encompasses many subcategories that result in negative attitudes towards patients and coworkers, as well as increased turnover rates. Background: Research suggests that many of the millions of deaths and long-term disabilities resulting from acute cardiovascular events and other emergency conditions are preventable if effective emergency care services were readily available. Effective emergency care requires trained and competent staff, including registered nurses. Most educational pathways do not adequately prepare nurses to deliver sensitive health care services for those with acute illness and injury. This includes Uganda, where few capacity-building initiatives have targeted emergency nursing care delivery, leading to knowledge and practice gaps.

Pathology, clinical care teams, and public health experts often operate in silos. We hypothesized that large data sets from laboratories when integrated with other healthcare data can provide evidence that can be used to optimize planning for healthcare needs, often driven by health-seeking or delivery behavior. From the hospital information system, we extracted raw data from tests performed from 2019 to 2021, prescription drug usage, and admission patterns from pharmacy and nursing departments during the COVID-19 pandemic in Kenya (March 2020 to December 2021). Neurological disorders are a leading cause of disease burden worldwide, placing a heavy demand on health systems. This study evaluated the impacts and cost savings of a community-based nursing service providing supported discharge for neurological patients deemed high-risk for unplanned emergency department presentations and/or hospital readmissions. It focused on adult patients with stroke, epilepsy, migraine/headache or functional neurological disorders discharged from a Western Australian tertiary hospital. Medication education by nurses during patients’ hospital stay is an important component of patient care. Nurses’ knowledge of specific medications and the resources that support teaching patients about medications may play a key role in increasing their satisfaction with the hospitalization experience. This quality improvement doctoral project created and validated evidenced-based cognitive aids for nurses to support this process. Electronic health records (EHR) and computer-based documentation is a powerful tool which has been adopted extensively in the last twenty years. The effect of EHR integration on staff has not been well studied, especially among nurses.

In modern times it is an expectation of students that technology be incorporated into how they receive their education. The COVID-19 pandemic brought to light how pure reliance on traditional face-to-face (F2F) learning can be detrimental to student learning. Many institutes of higher education had already implemented hybrid/blended learning prior to the pandemic and saw no difference in their NCLEX-RN pass rates. This evidence-based practice project gathered, reviewed, and synthesized evidence in order to determine if implementing different teaching strategies would maintain or improve student performance on both unit exams and end of course exit exams.

Aims To gain a deeper understanding of nurses and midwives' experiences following involvement in a critical incident in a non-critical care area and to explore how they have 'moved-on' from the event. Design An interpretive descriptive design guided inductive inquiry to interpret the meaning of moving-on. Methods Purposive sampling recruited 10 nurses and midwives. Data collection comprised semi-structured interviews, memos and field notes. Data were concurrently collected and analysed during 2016–2017 with NVivo 11. Purpose The purpose of this scoping review was to address trauma-informed care, juvenile justice systems, and recidivism rates. The literature review conducted identified key research and analysis of effective trauma-informed treatment methodologies, referrals, and accessibility of care for justice-involved youth, and the rate change of recidivism related to trauma-informed treatment and interventions.

Achieving health equity requires a diversity of perspectives, values, and insights, yet the composition of the United States’ nursing workforce does not reflect the communities where they practice. Nurse leaders can advance health equity and exemplary clinical outcomes by creating diverse, equitable, and inclusive health care teams. Such teams are well-equipped for organizational learning, a crucial process for advancing health equity. Nurse leaders advance health equity by fostering diversity, equity, inclusion, and thus organizational learning in the workplace.

Objective: Several studies of nurse staffing and patient outcomes found a curvilinear or U-shaped relationship, with benefits from additional nurse staffing diminishing or reversing at high staffing levels. This study examined potential diminishing returns to nurse staffing and the existence of a "tipping point" or the level of staffing after which higher nurse staffing no longer improves and may worsen readmissions.
Data Sources/Study Setting: The Readiness Evaluation And Discharge Interventions (READI) study database of over 130,000 adult (18+) inpatient discharges from 62 medical, surgical, and medical-surgical (noncritical care) units from 31 United States (US) hospitals during October 2014-March 2017.

The purpose of this Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) education quality improvement project was to evaluate the effectiveness of an undergraduate Community Health Nursing course, IPV simulation and learning activities. This experiential learning activity offered participants an opportunity to temporarily view life from the perspective of actual IPV victims/survivors, and review and discuss IPV statistics, at-risk populations, and warning signs.
The quality improvement project was developed using a mixed-methods quality improvement design. A convenience sample of 35 participants allowed matched-sample statistical analysis of the Jefferson Scale of Empathy Health Professions student version (JSE-HPS version) scores. The life of Emily L. Loveridge reflects the context of the times in which she practiced as a nurse and assumed leadership roles as a superintendent of nurses and subsequently a hospital superintendent. Over the course of her remarkable 40-year career, she would begin the first training program for nurses in the Northwest and shepherd a foundling hospital from a wooden structure housing 50 patients to a brick structure of over 330 beds. She would also advance the professionalization of nursing while contributing significantly to a variety of professional organizations.

Objective: This exploratory study examined perceived self-efficacy in information literacy skills in nursing students and discusses how collaborative relationships between nursing faculty and librarians can strengthen curricular efforts to support information literacy.
Methods: Using the Information Competency Assessment Instrument, a survey research design was used to determine student perceptions of their information literacy skills. Participants included nursing Baccalaureate, Master's and Doctoral students in each of these programs.

This historical discussion paper is an overview for nurses working in mental health of medieval and Early Modern texts known as Ars Moriendi literature, which focuses on the art of dying, grief and loss. Primary and secondary historical documents are used to describe Ars Moriendi literature and how historical understandings of death and dying were shaped within a spiritual context. Ars Moriendi concepts are compared with modern Western secularised and medicalised notions to prompt reflection on historical versus modern approaches to dying, grief and loss.

Background
Nurses play a key role in providing discharge education. With the increased demand for orthopaedic surgery and subsequent fast‐track surgical programmes resulting in reduction in hospital length of stay, obtaining patient feedback about discharge is important to inform nursing practice of discharge.
Aim
To explore patients’ experiences of discharge from hospital following orthopaedic surgery.
Methods
A descriptive qualitative study was undertaken with a sample of 34 patients discharged following orthopaedic surgery at a private acute Australian hospital. Individual semistructured telephone interviews were conducted and analysed using inductive thematic analysis.

Problem: According to the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN), moral distress (MD) is a major issue in the healthcare profession (2015). Many healthcare workers (HCW) are not aware of MD. The inability to recognize MD may lead to departing the profession.
Purpose: To offer an educational workshop about MD 1) explore the frequency and level of MD (2) establish a decision tree to mitigate MD.
